I've been to Doyle's dozens of times in the last 14 years. It's a few Avenues from my apartment, so while I'm out about 5 nights a week, I rarely go down to Broadway. Tonight I went because a friend was there. I had 3 drinks and paid cash. Then, when I was about to leave, I thought I might want one more, so I asked how strict they were on the "$30 credit card minimum" sign, since I'd been there for a few drinks already, and ESPECIALLY SINCE THEY CHARGE CUSTOMERS 4% ANYWAY! The bartender insisted that they COULD NOT use a card for under $30, even though the customer pays the fees, and they DO NOT have an ATM which I wouldn't have used anyway (paying $5 to my bank and the ATM provider) for one drink. I told them that I was going for one more at the Wolfhound on my way home, and they weren't swayed, so I respectfully left.
And before someone says I was being difficult, I am such a low maintenance customer. I'm out almost every night and EVERY bartender likes me and hooks me up. This is just their MORONIC OWNER'S policy from before COVID. The problem is that, NOW it is absurd to have a huge minimum and ALSO charge customers the fees, especially to someone who has already had 3 drinks.
They've lost me as a customer, which is too bad because the bar is nice, and I hear they have good food (I've rarely gotten there while the kitchen was open so I haven't eaten there). But there are too many great places in Astoria that are HAPPY that I spend hundreds of dollars there a week and treat me like a VALUED customer and friend.
By the way, I DO NOT blame the bartenders. It's CLEARLY a policy they have no say in. But the owner is...
Read moreI asked how much IPA’s were and a second time and he said I had attitude and shooed me out. I have spent money here and on trivia thursdays. Do better with this entitled man in a cowboy outfit I was willing to spend until closing like nothing. But he wanted to shooo me out and shoo another person here which was someone new I was bringing. You guys probably won’t do anything about it it, but fix your bartenders attitude because he IS NOT ADAPT enough to understand I asked because the music was loud and my fiend asked too and was proceeded to be told to leave. These are the facts and not opinion I am willing to provide my phone number, my email , my friends as well to make sure you get the customers side. I also , have other pictures from trivia night to show I...
Read moreDon't know what happened but observed some weird behavior from bartender. Went with friends to watch a game, got an appropriate amount of drinks while watching. As we head into final of the game bartender becomes passive aggressive and trying to rush us patrons out. This was towards peak of game so we closed check and stood up to watch the end of the game. Barkeep guy then does several passes asking us "need anything else?". No we are fine just watching game "Ok have a good night" tapping us on shoulders to get out. The small group of us decided to leave. Recommend checking out another local pub in the area (first time experiencing this level of service). Very sad to see as we've been here several times to watch and drink...
