Effy's Cafe on York — Restaurant in New York

I’m mad. I’ve lived 4 blocks away from this restaurant for 2 years and I only just tried it recently. It’s SO GOOD. I originally didn’t try it because I don’t consider myself a huge fan of Mediterranean but they have something for everyone. After I tried it for the first time I have been back 4 times within the span of a week. I had been looking for a quality grilled cheese in the area and had been SO disappointed until Effy’s. They make the most delicious mozzarella tomato pesto. Perfect. I’ve also ordered the vegan shawarma and loved it. Also got the Mac and cheese in the restaurant. PERFECT. Every time I go in there the workers are so nice and efficient. The digs are super simple, clean and inviting. I’m usually not this impressed with places. It almost feels too good to be true. I like this restaurant very much and I am a regular. The food is varied and fresh. Authentically Israeli. Among my favorites is the falafel platter, the couscous platter, portobello burger. Today I’m going to try the fried eggplant sandwich for the first time. Just please add harissa to the condiments! No other Hotsauce will do! That’s my only suggestion for any improvement! You need harissa with the falafel platter and you need it for the Couscous I don’t even mind if it’s storeboard at Trader Joe’s which is delicious! They have a breakfast special before 10am which is very filling and delicious, you can get a pancake and eggs done the way you want it plus a coffee or a tea to make a wholesome and delicious and budget friendly breakfast and it’s my new go to place for a delicious breakfast. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly and not crowded and I enjoyed the decor and the the vibe of it where it makes me want to dine in next time to experience the service and see all other people coming in.
