Ok, I wanted to get some ice cream to eat as I was driving home. This seemed so much better than a McDonalds cone and it was still open after 11P, so I figured I would try it. The girls behind the counter were sweet and let me sample some flavors, but the music was so loud I couldn't hear them talk. I quickly found an ice cream to eat, Elio's Treasure which was pretty good and I figured I would get an ice cream sandwich that I could eat while I'm driving. Easy enough. The girl takes my order and then offers me toppings and multiple scoops, and asks me what kind of cookies I wanted, I chose Macadamia. Then the bill comes $15.00 and change for an ice cream sandwich. I almost freaked. How could it possibly be that expensive for two cookies and a little bit of ice cream. That's more than a whole package of Tate's cookies and those are the best cookies in the whole freaking universe. Then she disappears in the back for about 12 minutes. I started having misgivings almost right away. This was seeming unnecessarily complicated. So finally she comes out with my order in a paper bag and I go to the car. But as I'm walking, I realize it's warm. Why is my ice cream and cookie sandwich warm? I get in the car and open it up. Well, it wasn't an ice cream sandwich. I don't know what it was, but that was definitely not a cookie, maybe muffin bottoms, or brownies, or even cake but definitely not a cookie and it was already starting to melt into a soggy mess. I took a couple of quick bites to try and figure out what they did. Maybe they got the wrong order? I should have just had a cone, or maybe they shouldn't have called this a cookie ice cream sandwich. I definitely couldn't eat it while driving. The only thing I had said to the girl about my order was I'm going to eat it while I drive home. So 20 minutes later I arrived home and tried to open it but by that time it was just a puddle of milk. Why would anyone heat up cookies to eat with ice cream unless you were sitting there eating and there is only like 6 seats in the shop, but the girls behind the counter clearly knew it was "to go". This place reminds me of the episode on Seinfeld where the restaurant owner is trying to sell all different types of food and nothing is good. I read all the reviews (after the fact) and they are generally positive but maybe the people nearby are seduced by the cuteness of the place and that it's the only option in the neighborhood. For $15 ($17.50 with tip) I should expect this place to really know what they are doing. This is quite possibly the worst "ice cream experience", Ive had in my entire life. And on top of that I had the privilege of it being the most expensive ice cream ever. I've had ice cream sandwiches (made with real cookies) at Ample Hills and Morgenstern's Ice Cream and it was great, two cookies and ice cream in the middle, not warm Macadamia cake and melted sludge. And at both of those stores it cost between $9 and $11. And more importantly, I was able to eat it and not...

Read moreCame here on the Fourth of July, as it was the only spot open late for my godson, who had a sweet tooth after our BBQ. I’m glad I found this place. The owner was really patient with him, which made me happy. The saying "like a kid in a candy store" perfectly described him, overwhelmed with so many different options. She let him take his time customizing his order, and he ended up with a large Oreo ice cream topped with even more Oreos.
She was just as patient with the adults in our group, allowing them to try multiple samples before deciding. They offer so many combinations that it’s hard to choose—but that’s a good thing! She even looked me in the eye and said, "You like donuts? I can cut one open and put any ice cream you want inside." The options are endless here! I ended up with a milkshake, and they even offer non-dairy options for those who are lactose intolerant, which is pretty cool. My godson and I will...
