It breaks my heart to give such a poor review but my visit was a huge disappointment. I bring tourists to the city and they always want a proper bagel and experience. They did not get that when we visited this location recently, which is nothing like the other location I’ve been to in mid-town. The only opportunity for visitors to have a good meal was ruined and also made me look silly for suggesting this place. Here’s some specifics: First, it was completely silent and awkward, like put some music on. Next, barely a single thing is made on site. You’ve got just a few cream cheeses in a weird glass case, no smell of bagels, and barely any menus to help the customers. The service was very poor. A gluten free friend of mine asked for just the eggs and bacon. You said no and made her eat it off a bagel. Everything was put into a microwave which is truly disgusting. What a sad way to watch a great place like this cut corners and lose trust of their longtime customers. Probably won’t take the chance gong back to any...
Read more"The Quintessential New York Bagel" maybe somewhere..... but not here. Ess a Bagel misses the mark. Store was clean and service was quick. Quick, only because they are microwaving everything. Nothing is fresh here . I ordered a "hangry egg" -the bacon was microwaved in a plastic container -the eggs were microwaved in a plastic container. The plastic "takeout style" container they were reusing was visibly melted exiting the mircowave. I didn't know I ordered a side of plastic chemicals with my order! This one sandwich astonishingly cost $12.00! Definitely not worth the price. My sandwich was lacking flavor to the point I drowned the sandwich in hot sauce to give it something. I don't know if Ess a Bagel is praying on the naivety of the tourist who visit the area, but as someone who works and spends money in the area I will not be back. Nor will people from my office after they hear this. It's not often I make online reviews but your really missing the mark...
Read moreCongrats on the grand opening! I've been a loyal Ess-a-Bagel customer since I was in middle school and would go to the original location almost everyday after school! I'm really glad that they've been doing well and expanded over the years, especially in NY, since beloved businesses are always coming and going. I'm not usually a salmon or fish fan but their Nova is to die for! Not too salty and very fresh and not overly smokey. I love that their everything bagel is crunchy on the outside yet soft and chewy inside (a total NYC bagel)! They were doing a sampling when I went and their strawberry cream cheese is my new fave for when I'm craving something sweet! Love the sandwiches here and I can't wait to try more things 🤗 The staff were also very warm and welcoming and helpful! I also loved that they had accessible outlets in the seating area bc my...
