Today, I rolled up to Fat Boys Vegan Burgers, and let me tell you, we're talking about some serious plant-based magic happening in this kitchen. I dove straight into their signature 60/40 burger, and I've got to say – this is the kind of innovative vegan cooking we appreciate. Although I normally don't do faux meats, I wanted to give this a try.
The burger itself was masterfully seasoned, bringing layers of savory depth that would make any chef proud. While the lettuce could have been more crisp and fresh, it didn't detract from the overall experience. The chef really understands how to build flavors – this isn't just another veggie patty, this is a carefully crafted culinary creation.
Now, let's talk about those yucca fries. These aren't your standard potato fries, folks. We're talking about perfectly cooked yucca root that brings a hearty, substantial bite with a beautiful crispy exterior. It's the kind of side dish that doesn't play second fiddle – it stands proudly alongside the main event.
What really elevated the experience was the genuine hospitality. The cook showed real passion for the food, taking time to walk me through the menu with patience and expertise. That kind of authentic connection with customers? That's what transforms a good restaurant into a great one.

Read moreI've been on the hunt for the city's best vegan burger. In no particular order, I've tried burgers at Superiority Burger, Uptown Veg, Slutty Vegan, Neat Burger, Next Level Burger, Jerrell's BETR BRGR, PLNT Burger, Spring Cafe, Vegan Grill Diner, Quantum Leap, Vegan on the Fly, Willow, Butcher's Daughter, and Candle.
Fatboy's beats them all.
Get the Fatty Patty with the 60/40 mix, a side of Cassava fries, and all the sauces. The burger was on point, and I dipped it in each sauce - couldn't find a bad combo, even with the ranch! Same thing with the fries. Never had Cassava fries before, and after having tried them, I wish more burger joints would offer them. And yeah, I dipped those Cassava fries in each sauce, too, and still couldn't find a bad combo.
In my opinion, a lot (but not the only part) of what makes a good burger is the sauce, and Fatboy's knocks it out of the park with how unique and flavorful each one is, from the sweet and spicy Wu Sauce to the creamy and tangy Nacy Sauce. It was an immense pleasure to try each delectable dip with the burger (and fries).
And one of the best parts is that I don't feel like garbage afterward. The food was delicious, and the place felt like a proper burger joint (i.e., not pretentious, not trying to advertise itself as healthy), but I don't feel sluggish or like my body is oozing salt and oil.
The owner, Scott, is also super down-to-earth and friendly. He really seems to know his stuff, and I wish nothing but the best for him and...
Read moreWoke up craving a Fatboy Vegan Burger this morning and knew I had to show some love. I ate here a couple of days ago and the food was immaculate and I’m not even vegan!
I had the 60/40 petite patty with lettuce and tomato, while my husband went for the 60/40 vegan Hajji with lettuce, tomato, onions, and pickles. Ouuuuuwee! Both burgers were absolutely delicious, packed with flavor that was perfectly balanced and seriously satisfying.
We also tried the yuca fries and tater tots, and I have to say… I think I might be addicted. The chef sprinkles a special blend of spices that takes them over the top. No old oil taste, just crisp-on-the-outside, fluffy-on-the-inside perfection. The yuca fries came with a super tasty sauce. I ate my tots with the Fatboy’s ranch and my mouth is watering just thinking about it.
The shop is small but welcoming, and you can feel the passion in every bite. The owner is also the chef, and it’s clear he pours his love into every dish. Can’t wait to...
