I started going to the Floridita that was located on 125th & Broadway over 20 years ago when I worked on 125th street. My children were practically raised on the food. The service and food were impeccable. We often took family members from out of town there to eat. When they closed we found the one located on Broadway; however, I have found the service to be subpar, especially for Black patrons. I have visited on several occasions and have been ignored, while orders for Spanish speaking customers were taken before mine. This has happened to both my husband and I.
Yesterday, I called in an order at 7:00 p.m. I was told my food would be ready for pick up in 25 - 30 minutes. I arrived at the restaurant at 7:25 p.m. It took several minutes before someone acknowledged my presence. Problem # 1 and I should have left at that point. A Latino man arrived after me and he was immediately asked for his order. He told the woman behind the counter in Spanish I was there before him. Thank you Melvin:-) When I asked for my order the cashier told me I had just called 6 minutes prior and it was not ready. However, I asked Melvin to translate that I called at 7:00 p.m. and showed him the time of my call. I tried to ask the cashier multiple times how much longer, only to be ignored. Two Latino men arrived after me and picked up their orders. At 7:42, I asked one of the gentlemen if he had just arrived. He stated he called in his order at 7:00 p.m. which was the same time I called in mine. At this point, no one could tell me how much longer I would have to wait for my food. In the meantime, the cashier handed me a receipt for my order. I left the restaurant which was almost 20 minutes after I arrived and 45 minutes after I placed the order with NO FOOD!!!!!!
I believe this restaurant is RACIST!!!!! Black people please do NOT support this business. They do not value our dollars. Needless to say I will no longer visit this establishment.
Sidebar, I went to Malecon a block way. I was in an out...
Read moreI just walked in with my daughter to order and take out. We waited 7 minutes and no one even bothered to look at us to take our order. At the take out counter was an older lady with a little girl and she already had her order in bags. I literally had to wave down a staff member (which she was the shortest of them all) She was rude and didn't seem like she wanted take my order. I asked what she had being that the lady at the register was taking phone orders told me there was no pernil. I asked what she has and I responded to my daughter in English. Tell me why this chic decides to walk away because she felt we took too long to order. I watched her go to the other employees that were just standing there talking and she grabbed a bottled water drank then walked back towards me with a face. Her response was you're ready now. I just looked at her BUT my mind just punched her face three(3) times. Once I put my order in she tells me they have no white rice. I turn to my daughter and when I go back to her she had walked away to just talk to her colleagues. SMH!! Then she returns and tells me what do I want RUDELY. I finally placed my order and she can't hear me. First of all I'm still keeping MY MASK! I repeated that I want BLACK BEANS, she tells me to get up and come to her. Biotch could've just come back to me. Once done she tells me my total for a lunch special. I give her 22 bucks so she can give me a 5 with my loose change. Why the fudge she puts my change on the counter when my hand was out. I told her you could've gave it to me in my hand â đ She said you're so miserable. Broad was lucky I KEPT IT professional!!! I WILL NOT ORDER FOOD...
Read moreI am writing the review based on my experience and what I saw and heard, you arrive, you enter and no one attends to you. In my case, I stood at the bar where they put the deliveries and almost in front of the cashier who is answering the calls and even though The phone is not ringing, she is not looking at you, but the others pass by you and are not able to say hello, can I help you? I went for a sandwich and I heard people say, let's sit at a table because here we are invisible and a lady told him He said well sit here and showed them 1 table then there was a couple sitting there for more than 10 minutes and they had to go to be served. In my case I asked the cashier what types of sandwiches they had since it was my first time and I wanted yn good sandwich and that was the place they recommended to me because the cashier told me I thought you already knew go ask the guy who makes the sandwiches I had already been waiting for about half an hour and when I go to where the guy tells me to wait for me to go to the cashier which I explained to him what I wanted until finally almost 40 minutes later he came out with my Club Sandwich that was tasty and well made, the atmosphere was very good, the food looked delicious, If you are hungry and can't wait 30 or 40 minutes for be seen I DO NOT RECOMMEND THE PLACE, BUT IF YOU GO AND YOU ARE NOT HUNGRY AND YOU DON'T MIND WAITING FOR SOME WAITRESS TO NOTICE THAT YOU ARE THERE I RECOMMEND IT I'M TALKING ABOUT MY EXPERIENCE MAYBE YOURS WILL...
