I came here on a Tuesday morning. The day after their grand opening.

This is an awkward location, but convenient for those that work or commute around the George Washington Bridge Bus Terminal. They are located on the ground level of the GWB Bus Terminal on the south side of 179 St. between Fort Washington Ave and Broadway. This block is where lots of MTA buses are always parked, and it gets a lot of traffic because the entrance of the George Washington Bridge (GWB) is right there.

I’ve been watching them slowly renovate and build the space for this supermarket. During construction, it has come together nicely. A few weeks before opening, they were cleaning the store and filling in inventory.

So far, it is immaculate. Super clean and organized. They are still filling in some of the refrigerators and shelves. But it’s about 95% filled. They have rotisserie chickens, and many choices of prepared foods sold by the pound. Also, a salad station. And all the staples you expect to find.

Check out the circular on their website for this specific location to find sales and deals for the week. It’s always nice to have another grocery store in the neighborhood to keep prices of other stores down. Prices here seem reasonable for most items. They are very in line with other local grocery stores.

There has been a lot of talk in the community about wanting a Trader Joe’s or Whole Foods to move into this location. Fine Fair got the space and we should give them a chance.

The other 2 locations nearby have mixed reviews on Yelp: St Nicholas Ave and 191 St has 2.5 stars. Broadway and Dyckman St has 2 stars.

Right now, this store is awesome, but it’s easier to open a clean store than maintain one. Only time will tell how this...

I purchased the Purina Dog Chow on 6/27/22 around 1:30pm with cash. After purchasing this item I went home and fed it to my dog who within 4-6 hours after eating this product proceeded to throw up consistently for hours in addition to consistent popping. I then planned to return the item in exchange for another product from this location. I came to return the product (without my receipt) as I did not expect to return this product in exchange for another - and the manager stated even if I had the receipt I could not exchange it because the product was open.

I conducted a test trail with my pet to see if it was anything else that could cause her to throw up & pop uncontrollably. I went a purchased a different brand of food at a different location and feed that to her about 24-hours later after allowing her to only intake water for a bit to clear her system. After feeding her a different brand of food my pet has no issues and is back to her normal happy, playful self.

I understand that because it is open certain things cannot be done, however due to this product causing an illness that never happened before with my pet there needs to be something else in place especially when it causes harm to another. No the product was not expired. The head cashier tried to assist however her manager who does not speak english told her he was not able to anything due to the product being used/open.

The company purina I’m sure is responsible however so is this fine fair at this location which I will no longer be shopping at. Customer Service, learn how to truly service the customer especially one that is clam and respectful...

I have given this Supermarket sooooo many chances and I wanted to like it ,it is in a convenient location but seriously there is soooo much wrong with this place...I can not tell you how many times I have had to return ground beef that I purchased THAT day and once i got it home and opened the package it was rancid, that goes for cheeses as well as cut melon and deli prepared foods....it's as if there is NO regard for expiration dates...it's so disappointing...YES when i return the item , they always agree that it has gone bad well before the date indicated on packaging and they DO REFUND my money, but it's as if they are just trying to push as much through before someone complains. ..the younger staff is absolutely horrendous in customer service, I mean truly aweful...the older staff members are very helpful and courteous.( 5 stars to the 2 women at the back registers by the GWB terminal, they are honestly the reason i go back)..the frozen food section is well stocked as well as the dairy section ( this I would definitely say is this locations best asset )...I HOPE SOMEONE IN THE STORE'S MANAGEMENT TEAM reads this review and does something about the issues , because I believe this Super market could be amazing if the right people managed it , or if they re evaluated...

Updated 2/12/2020: I was really looking forward to this Fine Fare opening up in the GWB bus terminal. Until now, Key Food on 187th street was the closest option for anyone living on 181st or above. This Fine Fare is nicely organized and maintained. It's also easily accessible from either the street or the subway. My disappointment has to do with the selection of products. First, there are few choices of organic or natural food products. Second, the brands offered are generally lower quality, cheaper brands, alongside more mainstream, established brands. There are few unique or specialty products. Prices are generally competitive with other large supermarkets in the area. Some items, like gallons of water, are more expensive, while other items are about the same. This Fine Fare does score points for serving drip coffee. They also had a small cafe sitting area, complete with a large fish tank, but sadly those are now gone. They also have rotisserie chickens and a deli section (no more hot food bar). And the freshly baked croissants are excellent. Time will tell if the product selection gets a little more varied or stays about the same. For now, I'm sure a lot of people will benefit from having this store in the neighborhood.

2024 UPDATE: DO NOT SHOP HERE. they sell old, expired, contaminated products that will get you sick. I bought the 6 pack hals black cherry seltzer water. Got home, put them to chill, when I went to open one it smells funny. Ended up getting sick with diahrea. check the labeling because some of they're products are expired. Make sure you double check your receipt too. They be charging the amount you're not supposed to be paying. Also, it seems like the staff have little to no customer service experience and they most definitely profile here because of the neighborhood. -Poor customer service -spoiled food -overpriced items -full stocked but place is never packed 🤔 From a person who's been in the neighborhood 40+ years. Don't shop here. TRUST.
