FLAT OUT RACIST. I have been to the other Fonda in Park slope and loved it. I even celebrated my anniversary there and when I got my masters degree. I went to this location today and my partner and I waited 30 minutes before getting up and leaving. No one had even come to our table and greet us or pour us water. I flagged down the hostess and a food runner to ask for the server and they said mhmm but no one came. The host was sooo grateful we took an outside table bc their inside was full and it was hot so no one wanted outside and they didn’t even bring us water.
And honestly all this was annoying but we were ok with continuing to wait because we love the food and drinks. But during our wait, they sat 2 other tables outside next to us, served them water, asked for their drink orders and kept filling their water… Everyone seated after us was white. I am Chinese and my partner is Black. He also is disabled and uses a cane to walk. One white woman with her young daughter actually flagged the host down to tell her that we hadn’t even been approached but tables after us had and that we were going to leave (we were getting up at this point). I was right by the host trying to tell her that we were leaving because of the wait and she would not talk to me and continued pouring the waters for the other tables while the white lady was trying to tell her I was behind her trying to speak to her. I am beyond disgusted with this place and will never go there again. Also telling everyone else I once recommended this restaurant to that they employ racist ppl and don’t deserve a dollar...
Read moreIf you’re craving authentic Mexican food with a modern twist, Fonda is the place to be. From the moment we walked in, the vibrant, yet cozy atmosphere made us feel like we were dining in a neighborhood gem. The restaurant has a warm, inviting vibe with colorful decor that’s not over-the-top, but just right to set the mood.
We started with the guacamole with tortilla chips, and it was absolutely divine—fresh, flavorful, and with just the right amount of spice. For the main course, I had the enchiladas verdes, which were fantastic. The chicken was juicy, the sauce was tangy and rich, and the dish was perfectly balanced. My friend opted for the mole chicken, and it was a winner too – the mole sauce was rich and deep, and the chicken was cooked to perfection.
The margaritas were also a highlight – refreshing, not too sweet, and served with a salted rim. They really know their way around cocktails at Fonda. The service was friendly and attentive, and we were made to feel welcome from the moment we walked in.
Overall, Fonda is the perfect spot for anyone craving authentic Mexican flavors with a contemporary edge. It’s casual, vibrant, and the food is absolutely top-notch. I’ll definitely be coming...
Read moreI am fond on every FONDA restaurant in NYC and I am particularly fond of FONDA TriBeCa. Fonda’s new space is contemporary while capturing the color and magic of the discerning Mexican modern design. FONDA’s food is delicious. We ordered our favorites: Guacamole, tacos al pastor, the outstandingly scrumptious “zarape de pato “ and fell in love with a new one for us, “sopa de tacos”. Roberto’s Santibanez’s “sopa de tortilla” has been a staple at our home through his cook book, but after delighting in Roberto’s “sopa de tacos” , we are rethinking the tortilla soup. It’s a joy to eat a perfect size flauta with the perfect crunch that melts in the mouth with the yummy green caldo. For main course we had the outstanding carnitas and the mouth watering “mole negro” with duck. Cocktails were superb. I have a new favorite, the spicy margarita. I strongly recommend the scrumptious desserts accompanied by a shot mezcal. The service was personal and outstanding! We can’t wait to go back. Thank you Marco and Roberto for this AMAZING Fonda...
