I ordered the shredded beef with scallion and white rice lunch special, plus an extra serving of rice, as Chinese spots tend to give you so much meat and not enough veggies/rice to balance it out. Well… it felt like I had ordered onions with a bit of beef and a pinch of scallions lol. The onions were a tasty addition but the ratio neeeds to be adjusted! If I were someone who didn’t like onions I would’ve been livid about my meal as the menu didn’t even say it came with onions. Overall the food was good enough. And they never gave me the $2 extra white rice (nor the water that was supposed to come with the special) but I didn’t need it anyway, all I had leftover were a few bits of onion 🙃
The scallion pancakes were very good! Maybe could’ve had more scallion as well but overall I was satisfied.
I really didn’t want to give three stars, but my main meal just wasn’t what was advertised on the menu. I will return to try again and hope I can improve my rating!

Read moreFinally, authentic Chinese food in Greenpoint! Four Season Joyful is a much-needed addition to the neighborhood—especially for those of us working nearby who crave real Chinese cuisine without having to trek to Flushing. The food here is the real deal: bold Szechuan flavors, perfectly balanced spices, and dishes that are clearly made with care and tradition in mind—not your typical Americanized takeout.
I’ve tried the mapo tofu and the shredded beef with hot peppers, and both were incredible. Their $12 lunch specials are also unbeatable—great portions, comes with rice and a drink, and most importantly, packed with flavor. Plus, they have a solid bubble tea selection that pairs great with any meal.
The staff is friendly, and the place is clean and cozy—perfect for a quick lunch or a relaxed dinner. I highly recommend everyone give this place a try. It’s about time we had a spot like this...
Read moreOrdered sweet and sour chicken and it was perfectly without any taste. It’s a marvel and the highest form of creation of blandness. It’s like their goal is not to make flavors but to deprive and deplete any ingredients of substance and to achieve perfect tastelessness. Sauce had a bit of a hint of sour taste and a vague memory of sweetness, no pineapples with only three pieces of bell peppers. Behold No rice! Because apparently in that restaurant sweet and sour chicken comes without rice! Needless to say I remained hungry while my trash bin received a hefty meal. I wish there were negative...
