Strange vibe to this place. I’ve been in the daytime and had a nice lunch, and been at 3AM more recently and discovered why some reviews say this place went downhill. Same as someone else said, the older man waiting tables at night seems completely aloof. Took my order, gave me my drink, and because I started reading I didn’t realize half an hour had gone by and he hadn’t come by the table once: not with my food, not to tell me it was almost ready, and seemed to be avoiding not only me but interacting with the other staff. He kept going over to the service stand and rolling place setting by the dozen to kill time. There was even a bizarre moment where the saloon-style kitchen door loudly and completely shattered and the wood clattered to the floor—3 guys went to check it out but this older guy, he just kept standing there rolling place settings. When I finally got his attention, I told him I just wanted the check. He brings me a bill with the grilled cheese sandwich I never got still on it. I didn’t want to interact with him anymore, so I crossed off the grilled cheese, wrote “never got this,” left $10 for the milkshake, got up and left. I don’t mind curt or surly staff in a diner, especially on graveyard shift, but being cold-shouldered by someone who’s clearly not cut out for waiting tables at all is a different story. Honestly! I’ll take an attitude if you can do your job, but if you can’t, it’s a problem. I’ll give them 3 stars for atmosphere because it’s such a cool little diner tucked away in a spot where it could be a great neighborhood secret—too bad it’s becoming more of a...
Read moreI was looking forward to a nice simple lunch with my sister to chat and catch up and we stumbled upon this “charming” diner. We ended up just talking about how damn rude the waitress was.
For the record, she was NOT “just having a bad day” seeing as she was all happy and chummy and LOL’n nice and loud, with tables across the way, which made an impression on us because she deliberately kept her back to us the entire time, making it extra awkward to get her attention. I wrote “RUDE SERVICE” on the receipt, but still...
Read moreI dont write reviews often but this place deserves one. I'm new here and I just spent my first night in greenpoint. I wanted breakfast so I ordered german fries with and extra egg and a side of grits and toast through the doordash app for pickup. The walk was nice, gps took me through a park to get there, it's not too cold. Just a wonderful time. Then I get to the diner. I go inside and I tell her my name and she has me go around to get it. I asked if I could have some salt, pepper, and butter. She's like "theres some already in there, do you want more?" In a kinda rude way but not too crazy. Before I could even answer she says to this guy that behind the counter "you put salt and pepper in here right?" And he rudely says "yeah I already did. It's in there" and she grabs the butter out of the fridge and puts it in the bag, closes it back and gives me my food. I get to the park to eat my food and there was a large portion of food so that's a plus. I'm looking for the salt and pepper and these people put one itty bitty packet of each in the bag. We have all seen the those packets so you know that you need quite a few to even taste it on your food. The eggs in parts of my German fries were still runny, and it was all bland and tasteless. They also gave me the wrong drink. I asked for apple snapple and they gave me lemon ice tea and I'm allergic to lemon. So that's that. Will not...
