The food at friedman is always stellar and I look forward to it every time I am traveling to the city. I have stayed in the attached edison 8 times this past year and I had nothing but positive things to say until my most recent visit. I tried to place a togo order online and it wasn’t working so I proceeded to call to place the order. I was then told that I would have to come into the store and place a togo order, which I did. The hostesses at the front clearly can not handle the stress of the dinner rush. While the ever popular gales broadway rose continues to expand, I avoid dining in at all cost as it completely changes the atmosphere with the blasting music. Hence why I was placing a togo order. After then being sent to the bar by the first hostess to place a togo, I was again not helped. I was ignored by all 3 staff members behind the bar. I returned back to the host stand to get help and a new hostess rudely said “can I help you with something” I asked nicely if there was someone who could place my togo order. she told me to return back to the bar. I explained that I was not helped at the bar where she said “you can stand here and someone will help you, it is first come first serve” This is the hostess with winged eyeliner and long straight black hair who was also unpleasant to other guests at the front door. Instead of helping the guests she made them feel unimportant. Hate to break it to you, a restaurant is a place where guests come to eat, drink, and relax. Your job is to accommodate people’s needs, not...
Read moreFirst of all, I will say the atmosphere is great. Musical performances by the staff are great. Better then Stardust, which surprised me.
Food was also very good. Little pricy but not overly much relative to other restaurants in the area. The B.L.A.T. was excellent.
However, our experience was horrible given the service, or lack of service I should say. First, we asked for a table for four and were told it would be a 20 minute wait. So we sat down and waited but decided to get takeout as we thought it would be faster. After ordering our two items for takeout (we decided to share) at the bar as requested, we sat down for 5 minutes and then saw at least three tables come and and get a table immediately, including a table for four right in front of us.
After 20 minutes of waiting I asked the bartender if he knew how long our order would take and he said 10 minutes. I sat down and didn't say anything further but when the table of four who came in after we offered received their meals, I had to ask the concierge again and she said she would check. She came back to tell me the other had been lost and asked if we still wanted the order. I said yes and after maybe five minutes, she brought my order and have me the bill.
Needless to say, I think they could have been more genuine in apologizing for the significant delay. So yes, good good but bad service means I would not recommend...
Read moreThis is probably the worst restaurant experience and the poorest service I have ever had in NYC. I went on a Sunday for lunch with 4 friends. We got seated at a 4-person table so one of us (me actually) had to sit on a chair in the aisle (even though we had made a reservation for 5 ages beforehand). I ordered a breakfast burger described as short rib so I got a bit surprised when the waitress asked how I wanted it cooked but anyway I answered "very well done". Our plates arrived with what looked like a regular burger patty. The menu said that all sandwiches were served with herb fries but our burgers arrived with a salad. When we asked her about the fries she told us that this one came with a hash brown so the fries would be extra...disappointing but moving on. I tried this hash that was completely cold then cut my meat which turned out to be completely rare. I called her telling her that I could not eat that for those reasons. Without a word she took my plate away. 10 minutes later with nothing happening I asked when my food would finally arrive, still expecting a hot well done burger. She looked at me astonished asking I quote "so now you wanna eat?". I told her to forget it, left my friends at their lunch and stepped out of this place where I will definitely never step a foot in again. It's so sad when restaurants rely solely on...
