I chose this place for my first meal in NYC after poring over many menus, and was mostly captivated by the "blackpink shrooms" menu item which had hen of the woods mushrooms. The restaurant was pretty empty on a Monday evening -- there were only two other parties there while we dined. The service was great and the ambience was elegant and pleasant. There was one standout dish, and a couple that I thought could be improved.

Great, would get again Wild sole en papillote ($39): This dish was amazing, no notes. The fish is perfectly tender and flavorful, the sliced potatoes underneath are vanishingly thin and melt in your mouth, and the charred lemon adds a nice zing. I'm inspired to eat more sole.

Good, might get again Scallop crudo ($21): This dish had great flavor, though maybe was missing a crunchy element. Mushroom tacos ($19): The mushrooms were very well seasoned and cooked. This would be great for a vegetarian mushroom lover.

Wouldn't get again FYC wagyu burger ($29): While this dish had good flavor, the patty was rather tough and lean, which was unexpected for a supposedly wagyu burger. Parmigiano broth with riccia ($25): Based on the menu description I had no idea this was a pasta dish. It was very mild in flavor, and tasted like cheese water (though perhaps I should've expected that from a "parmesan broth". Spring beans with crispy prosciutto ($10): The prosciutto was nice but the string beans had very little flavor and were rather crunchy. Blackpink shrooms ($12): Unfortunately the dish that got me to come to the restaurant fell short of my expectations. No flavor in the mushrooms (which was surprising given how flavorful the mushroom tacos were!).

Overall I loved the sole fillet, but most of the other items didn't wow me. The cocktails are on the drier side, so the bartender made us a custom hibiscus drink that was pretty good, which we appreciated. I probably wouldn't come back here, but I'm...

Last night my oldest son treated me to a special and memorable pre-Mother's Day dinner at FYC last night. It was opening weekend for this new and exciting restaurant opened by my younger son and friends. What a treat to share Mother's Day with my two sons at FYC. Xanthus, my younger son is the Director of Service and the service, explanations of dishes and drinks were the best - interesting and clear, showing a knowledge of all involved. The lighting throughout was a favorite of mine, drawing the various spaces into a cohesive whole, inviting and warm. And that cozy, family feeling spills right through the huge amazing doors to the Patio, romantic and cozy. The buildings and trees beyond seem to continue FYC decor beyond the defining black fence. Atmosphere and environment are all important to my creative spirit and this was the best. But it is a restaurant and the food was also superb, creative and tasty. I particularly loved Mona's meatballs and the sole. The butter that came with the baguette had such a unique presentation but even better the taste was unique and surprising. As a lover of bread and butter, this item will always be part of my order. The cream enveloping the berries at the end was so delicious and a wonderful light finish to an incredible meal and experience. I wished to taste everything but couldn't eat another morsel. I will continue to return to taste Mona's tacos and the other specialties. You won't want to miss this experience - get to FYC and become part...

We were able to dine with FYC last night on their opening weekend. My wife and I met a friend at the bar before we sat down for dinner. Bret, Xanthus, LJ, and Matt welcomed us warmly, and immediately made us feel like family. I was “trying” their local Pilsner (all night) and the ladies enjoyed their Naomi Campbell cocktail and rosés. I had full intentions on eating inside with the awesome 80’s music flowing, but the night was so nice that we decided to dine outside in their back patio- wow! So quiet and romantic- even when it was full. LJ took amazing care of us, telling us about various offerings that he thought that we may be interested in. Ryan, as support, was a stud! We ended up opting for the strawberry salad to start, along with meatballs. Both were amazing. Then we shared their 22oz Bone In Ribeye with Salsa Verde, it was cooked perfectly with amazing flavor. Lastly we decided we should get some more healthy stuff to wash down the steak and ordered the Broccoli Rabe (Xanthus’ suggestion), Hasselback potatoes, and Green Beans with Prosciutto Cracklin. Everything tasted incredible, our compliments to Chef Mona. We ended up finishing our night at the bar- we didn’t want to leave. The place had started to fill up and the vibe was perfect for an adult Saturday night with our new family here at FYC. Highly recommend you stop by and hang out for some drinks. A couple from NC had visited the night before, and they were already back- stating that “this was their new place”. It’s that...
