The food was great. Pasta with meatballs was full of flavor with incredible sauce. Chicken wings (more akin to breaded & fried tenders/fingers) were delightful. Cesar salad was good but could've used croutons and more flavor in the dressing. Iced matcha drinks are a standout.
The experience was somewhat confusing as it's set up a la counter serve (to order then pay first thing) but then the food is brought out to you a la table-side service. Note to management: pick a lane. Are you a sit down restaurant or not? In the age of constant iPad tip screens, how & when you get the bill absolutely factors into what diners perceive to be an appropriate tip.
For the price, the portions are adequate, but it does feel more on the expensive side for the size of the plates. The menu items we ordered were not a rip-off by any means, but there's more value for your money to be had elsewhere. Other reviews touch on a similar note especially with the sandwiches.
Cute atmosphere but somewhat cramped with hard wooden chairs + no seat cushions. A large cushioned bench fills out the end but is lumpy and uneven with big holes that lack stuffing. The tables are crammed right next to each other.
The bathroom was dirty thanks to previous patrons with poor aim and did not appear to be attended to during our visit.
Ultimately we will be back and it's worth a visit for vegans, vegetarians, and...
Read moreLet me start with the good. The meatballs are fantastic. 10/10 absolutely delicious and I would come back for them. The cheesecake is also VERY good and would return for it as well. The space is beautiful. It’s a very cute spot.
Burger was kinda meh. It tasted like it was cooked in old oil. The patty itself is not bad. My non-vegan partner actually liked it more than I did. It needs a sauce cuz it’s pretty dry. Some pickles would make it great. And it’s too pricey for what you get (it’s $14 and reflects a $12 price point, IMO)
The mac & cheese is sooo sad and actually made me angry. It’s $8 and it was barely 4 bites. The sauce itself is not really anything special but then it was topped with bread crumbs & fennel? Fennel?! On mac that makes no sense and totally ruined it. Thyme sage or even oregano I could understand but fennel just pissed me off. Not as important- but I think actual macaroni-like noodles should be used. Not short rigatoni. For the price this needs to not only be bigger but also better.
I’ll come back and try other things simply because the meatballs were so good so I have hope for...
Read moreLet me tell ya, I love a good a sandwich. As a vegetarian its very annoying that most places just give ya a sprout, cucumber, pesto roulette. I literally hunt sandwiches down so when I found this place on my short NYC trip you bet I made the trek from The Bronx's to Williamsburg to try them out.
1st off the ambiance is adorable and the front of their shop is perfect for you to get your instagram pics...i didn't take a photo so you'll just have to believe me
2nd the service is good for counter service. Everyone was nice idk what you want more than that to be honest.
3rd we ordered the Steak sandwich and the chicken parm.
Steak Sandwich: Hands down the best steak sandwich ive had as a vegetarian. Super flavorful, well marinated, and just all around melt in your mouth flavors. 10/10
Chicken Parm: classic, messy, not lacking sauce 8/10
The bread: Crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside, doesn't make you think your teeth are going to crack off. 10/10
You can also order wine and beer here which is fun but we just got coffees
Black ice coffee - nothing special but it...
