Gems Bar & Lounge — Restaurant in New York

I went with a few friends on Saturday night around 830pm. it was extremely empty which is surprising for a Saturday night. There were only a few patrons there along with the employees. The employees were sitting at the bar not engaging with customers. We were sat at a table and was given menus. We ordered 3 drinks, 2 orders of wings, 1 order of plantains and 1 order of shrimp. My friends wanted to purchase a hookah and was never offered the menu. They had to ask for it. We never received a receipt for our purchase. We were never asked if we wanted more drinks etc. My friends asked for a coal refill for their hookah. They paid for a refill but then a few minutes later a reserved card was placed on our table. We were told the table was reserved for another party. This was unprofessional to be told after the fact of purchasing a refill to then be told they had to get up and stand at a table to finish their hookah. We should have been told prior to us sitting down from the moment we arrived. The customer service was lacking and it just seemed like a shady establishment. I LOVE GEMS!!!!! It's a true Brooklyn Gem. All the Best Artists and Hood Celebs from NYC party here. I was lucky enough to network with so many of them and enjoy their vibe. It gets LIT EARLY! I am here with my twin and bestie every Friday because we work hard all week, it's free if u show up in good timing and it's local. We love the vibe and urban aesthetic, it never fails us. It's just LOVELY really. The DJ is ALWAYS on point. Hip-hop, r and b, reggae, afro beats, etc. They switch it up constantly through the night. They have reasonably priced tables for your hookah and bottles on the walk in. Drinks are always on special so it seems... The guys look tf goodt, ok ... good looking and stylish, respectful and drama free. I would say the crowd is mixy. U can wear WHATEVER U WANT. I went for a brunch, I don't know if it was someone throwing the brunch or if it was the lounge itself's brunch it was $45 it was bottomless mimosas and an entree. The only problem I had was when I asked for grenadine or blue curacao , pineapple juice, or cranberry juice to be added to my mimosa to offset the taste a little bit originally there was no problem after I guess whoever tends the bar or the person overseeing the bars saw what was going on they tried to charge me a five dollar up charge for grenadine,Blue Curacao pineapple juice or cranberry juice. Also keep in mind everything is pre-made also keep in mind that the beverages were in champagne flutes all I was asking for was a little bit to be poured in the bottom of the glass before they poured the pre-made beverage into my cup.
