We visited the restaurant today as a family, including my wife and three kids, and unfortunately, our experience was deeply disappointing. Upon arrival, we were asked if we had reservations, and despite the main floor being mostly empty (only two tables were occupied), we were seated in the basement. To make matters worse, we were the only ones seated in the basement, which felt isolating and unwelcoming.
This was surprising and frustrating, as the main floor had plenty of available space, and it felt like we were being treated differently simply because we had children. This left us feeling unwelcome and undervalued.
The service throughout the visit added to our dissatisfaction. When it was time to pay, the server handed me the payment machine in a curt and dismissive manner, which felt rude. Furthermore, some items from our order had to be entered manually, and the prices for these items were inflated. When we asked about it, I was told that these items weren’t on the menu, which seemed questionable and left us with an impression of dishonesty.
By the time we left, the main floor still had only two tables occupied, reinforcing our feeling that we had been unfairly seated in the basement. My wife and daughter were particularly upset by this experience and have said they would never return.
If you have kids, I would strongly recommend avoiding this place, as it seems they are not family-friendly. We had hoped for a pleasant family outing, but instead, we left feeling disappointed and unwelcome due to the rude service, questionable billing practices, and unfair treatment. While we recognize that mistakes can happen, there’s no excuse for the way we were treated. We cannot recommend this restaurant to others,...
Read moreGiardino D'Oro in New York City is an epitome of culinary grace and elegance. Tucked away in the city's bustling landscape, this gem offers more than just a meal—it promises an unforgettable dining journey. The atmosphere strikes a perfect balance between opulence and comfort, setting the stage for any special occasion or memorable night out.
Our evening was made truly exceptional by not one, but two outstanding waiters—James and Valentino. James' expertise on the menu and wine pairings was as invaluable as it was enlightening. His attention to detail, from the appetizers to the desserts, was meticulous. On the other hand, Valentino brought an unparalleled level of charisma and charm to the table. His flair for creating a welcoming atmosphere was perfectly matched by his keen sense of timing and service.
The synergy between James and Valentino was palpable, each complementing the other's style seamlessly, ensuring that our dining experience was flawless from start to finish. It was like watching a well-choreographed dance where each waiter knew just when to step in and take the lead.
The cuisine itself was a masterpiece. Each dish seemed to transcend the last in terms of flavor and presentation. Whether it was the perfectly al dente pasta, the delectably fresh seafood, or the sinfully indulgent desserts, every bite was a celebration of culinary artistry.
In conclusion, Giardino D'Oro is not just a restaurant; it's a sublime experience for all the senses. With the incredible team of James and Valentino at the helm of service, and a menu that rivals any Michelin-starred establishment, this place is an absolute must-visit for anyone looking to dine in...
Read moreCame in for lunch with a party of 4, but we did not have a reservation. The Hostess had us wait around for about 10 minutes while they checked in all the guests behind us (Assuming they had a reservation) rightfully so... However, once everyone else had been seated the Matre Di came over and told the hostess to seat us downstairs, although plenty of tables were available. ( A Party of 2 was seated in a 4 person table) We were ok with being seated anywhere as we were in a hurry to eat before we needed to get back to work. The maitre Di proceeded to point us towards the bar and refused to seat us down as only 3/4 people of the party had arrived. After explaining to him that our 4th, would be here in 5 minutes and noticing the party ahead of us with the same conundrum being seated although their whole party wasnt there, we chose to leave and not eat.
The Hostess seemed to grill us up and down while hoping the maitre di would come over and put us in a corner away from their regulars.
We have been eating at the italian spot across the street for the last 7 years. Had they not been so rude and unprofessional we would have found a new place to eat for the coming years. Its unfortunate, the food looked good but their extremely old school way of judging a customer at the door was sad and outdated.
I am unable to rate the food, i hope they would invite us back under better...
