It may look like a simple juice bar at first glance, but goodsugar is much more than that. All of their food is top-notch: extremely fresh, flavorful, and most importantly healthy in a way that is virtually impossible to find anywhere else in NYC. Every item had ingredients listed, and they are high-quality ingredients. Many items such as some of the baked goods are oil-free(!!); others have olive oil only; a few items unfortunately still contain coconut oil. We devoured the muffin, the mini pecan loaf, the peanut butter cookie, and the cacao cookie (all oil-free). They all blew us away, and it is hard to pick favorites, but the muffin was spectacular (on the sweeter side), and the cacao cookie was unique and clean-tasting and disappeared in seconds. They also have a wide range of hot savory items that are fantastic, such as the burrito with homemade salsa and cashew queso. The juices are awesome (try the Rude Awakening if you dare). Also, they are entirely free of single-use plastic. Just about everything is served in a cute mason jar, and they offer a rebate in their rewards program if you return the jar. I hope they expand to more locations. In a city where vegan restaurants are commonplace, goodsugar stands out for actually acknowledging that people nowadays care about what’s inside their food, not just...

-18-greens juice - Green juices typically have apple juice added to make them more palatable, but this one seems have only vegetables. That said, it's probably one of the better vegetable-only juices I've had. It tastes smooth. as none of the ingredients compete with one another or overtake the flavor profile of the drink. Wouldn't go out of my way to order this but would drink it all if it was in front of me. -Banana bread slice - My favorite. Great flavor and delicious crunchy pops from the millet that's generously interspersed in the cake. Not too banana-y, a good level of sweetness and moisture, truly enjoyed this. -Curried dahl soup - Disliked it. There's a slight bitter undertone that becomes more pronounced when drinking the soup. -Enlighten-mint smoothie - Essentially a mint chocolate chip smoothie. Tasty, albeit too minty (I feel like they added spearmint extract and it affected my ability to taste food for a few minutes after) -Marinated kale salad - Good flavor but far too sweet for a salad. I ate each morsel of this salad with a big bite of spring mix. Has nice textural crunches here and there. Portion seemed small for the price although everything else listed here seemed...
