Happy Garden — Restaurant in New York

Used to be my go-to, I will never be back after countless negative experiences. Extremely rude, no understanding of customer service particularly from the guy who answers phones, packages to-go orders and works the register. The other lady is a mixed bag, she is normally at least not completely mean. This only gets 2 stars because the food is pretty good. What a shame that they lost my business from numerous rude interactions. Here's my story...

Own multiple businesses just up the street including a few restaurants. I understand service. This place doesn't.

The man I referenced above has snapped at me before, but I've always chalked it up to him having a bad day. We all do right? Well this guy is just generally always rude.

My last time here, I noticed prices went up a bit which is understandable. I asked this man if I could get a combination platter but without the egg roll that I wasn't going to eat. He said, "yeah, what you want". I asked if I could substitute for another item, like a soda. He said the same thing in a more annoyed way asking what I want. I asked if it would be the same price to sub a soda. He looked at me blankly like I'm an idiot and said no, and honestly seemed to make up the up charge off the top of his head. He said 50 cents more.

So that didn't seem to be worth it, I felt the price was already higher than it used to be. Now he wants to up-charge me for a soda which doesn't cost them much more than an egg roll. So then I asked, if I could just skip the egg roll completely. He repeats very angrily, "OK WHAT YOU WANT?!" I said, hold on man... will you take a little off since I am getting less now. He says, "NO SAME PRICE".

I just told him off saying I'd never be back and walked out. They lost a customer for life and now I'm going to stop referring them AND I'll even speak out against them when people ask for a Chinese place nearby.

I've been going here for years and have seen their google rating drop steadily. They used to be up around 4.5 stars, the best in the neighborhood. Now I know why they have dropped off.

For the money, there is a new place that just opened up last week just up the block on Wilson and Starr called Yummy 88. Their prices are better, food taste and quality is good. And the best part is they don't treat you...

The customer service here is absolutely horrendous for the average tasting food they serve. I've had the workers hang up on me multiple times when I called back when I was missing an order and got a wrong item. They completely disregarded what I said and tried gaslight me into thinking I was wrong. He explicitly said he wouldn’t do anything to accommodate for the wrong order. They added ketchup on and order that I specifically said NOT TO because my father is allergic. They responded with “okay” and hung up. I don’t recommend ordering here, matter a fact there a MUCH BETTER Chinese restaurant down the street...

I've never been to a restaurant in flushing with such attentive staff from everyone at the door to the waitstaffs. Everyone was courteous and greeted me with a smile each time I flagged them down. They router come by to make sure everything was fine, from cleaning the pot, refilling with soup to dropping off extra napkin without me even asking! This level of service in flushing is hard to find.

The food is good, maybe on the pricer side but great experience would totally come back again.
