I visited Henrietta Hudson for the first time on April 26, 2025, and unfortunately had the most horrendous experience. I was there with my partner, having a good time enjoying drinks and music, when I was randomly approached by a manager named āGaby.ā She profiled me, claiming I matched someone banned from one of their sister bars ā someone I have no connection to whatsoever.
When I asked Gaby what my name was, she couldnāt answer, only saying, āIt starts with an R,ā while my name actually starts with a B. I willingly offered my NYS ID (which was already checked upon entry) and my debit card to prove my identity, but Gaby refused to even look at them. Instead, she insisted I leave, claiming the banned person was wearing a white shirt ā and that because I was wearing one too, it must be me.
Even after proving I wasnāt the person they were looking for, I still felt profiled, disrespected, and deeply embarrassed. Gaby even went so far as to show me a random Instagram profile asking if it was me, after which I showed her my real Instagram profile. At that point, I decided to leave voluntarily, but the damage was done.
This was public humiliation based on profiling, and the managementās behavior was beyond unprofessional ā especially disturbing given that this is supposed to be a safe, welcoming space for our community.
I will never return to this bar and would like to follow up directly with the owner regarding...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI am utterly disgusted by what I witnessed last night, at the Henrietta Hudson establishment. What was meant to be a casual night out turned into one of the most uncomfortable and upsetting experiences Iāve had in a long time, all due to the behavior of a member of the bar staff.
A fellow patron, who appeared to be nothing but being polite and respectful, was publicly humiliated and discriminated against in full view of the bar. The staff member aggressively grabbed the wrist of the patron to kick them out based upon false claims made by another bar goer without ever verifying the claim. I am unsure if this was based on personal bias, whether that bias was due to race, gender identity, appearance, or another factor, it was blatant and deeply inappropriate. It was bullying, plain and simple.
The most shameful part? No one from management intervened. The incident was brushed off as if it were normal or acceptable. Let me be clear: it is not.
This establishment should be ashamed. Discrimination and humiliation have no place anywhere, let alone in a setting that relies on public trust and hospitality. Until serious accountability and training are put in place to ensure this never happens again, I will not return, and I will make sure others know the truth about how people are treated...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy girlfriend and I searched for LGBT bars in NYC because we hoped to have a couple drinks and relax without the worry of people staring/commenting etc. It was by far the least friendly lesbian bar Iāve been to. I understand that we are the ever-dreadful tourists, and those pesky tourists are SO annoying. But seriously, we ordered two drinks, sat quietly at a table by ourselves and then attempted to play pool. I think this is where we went wrong. See we waited until the pool table was empty, checked to make sure there werenāt any quarters on the table (standard public pool table rules- there werenāt any) and started a game. Maybe 1 min in, some woman came back and made some snarky comment about there being a wait list on the table? We still arenāt sure if she was asking or telling. We tried to clarify and she threw her hands up and said itās fine. So I guess if you want to play pool at the bar, maybe see if thereās a sign up sheet? Bizarre.
The bar itself is tiny and could use a little TLC (and possibly some bleach). The only reason they get more than one star is because, while the drinks were overpriced for being a dive bar, the bartender did free pour, so thatās good I guess?
Honestly itās not worth the trek down from Times Square. But I donāt think they care for tourists...
