I really don't understand the 5-star reviews for this place, especially since this is in Manhattan. Maybe the reviewers haven't experienced NYC properly or are new transplants. This is by far one of the most disappointing places I've been to in this city.
The one redeeming quality and the reason I gave two stars is that the drink we ordered was good, so maybe if you only stop by for drinks you'll be alright. But I came here for food.
It's a really nice space and looks pretty, but the food looks like something you'd get at a cheap cafeteria or worse - and it's not cheap. I spent $16 on a bowl that, even by Manhattan price standards, should have been no more than $8. There is no effort or thought put into presentation or execution. Nothing we ordered looked appetizing.
My friend's order was literally forgotten and she had to remind them (to essentially just fry two eggs). The chicken was overcooked to dryness. The utensils come wrapped in a napkin that is fastened with a full sticker - when you unwrap it, the sticker rips the napkin apart. I don't know how no one caught this obvious logistical blunder. They also have this white sauce that smells uncannily like Elmer's glue. I'm honestly shocked at how this place is still operating and at the positive feedback they get on Google.
I think conceptually they have a good idea, and they can easily do so much better with a little thought and effort. I'm literally nobody and I know I could have executed...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI thought nothing would ever contend for a place in my heart like the Sweetgreen harvest bowl. People had said before that Honeybrains was a Sweetgreen competitor, and I balked at the notion that anything would even come close. It wasn't until a girl that was exactly my type said she preferred it to Sweetgreen where I decided to give it a real chance. Women truly do run the world. I broke down and tried a chicken + rice bowl subbing Kale for Spinach and Chickpeas for sweet potatoes, obviously. It was fantastic but I still preferred Sweetgreen, or so I thought until yesterday. 5pm on a beautiful Monday I found myself sandwiched between Lafayette and Bowery on Great Jones St, which is quite literally equidistant from Sweetgreen and Honeybrains. 2 people in my internal dialogue started running rampant:
"Well Sweetgreen is a bit more of a salad so I think I'm" -- "Yeah but Honeybrains has way more protein and we just had a great workou" -- "True but the sweetgreen dressing is bette" -- "I mean I feel you but those sweet potatoes at honeybrains are objectively fresher and" -- "I'll give you that but we get that piece of bread at Sweetgreen..."
This went on for a few minutes with me taking a few steps towards Sweetgreen, then pivoting back towards Honeybrains. I really had to say okay I'm insane I'm just going to go to Honeybrains because I've been to Sweetgreen more. But yeah, keep an eye on this absolute dogfight for the superior healthy...

Ordered various salads and drinks from Honeybrains. I love their ethos and mission so am always willing to give their food a fair shot. Found their protein( especially the beef) to be dry and hard to consume.
I had lost my AirPods at this location and upon talking with the manager Mari she confirmed that they were found. However, after coming to the store to pick them up I was told that they were in fact not there. After multiple store visits, messages, and emails the team was not directional in locating the AirPods. How can they be found one day then suddenly disappear the next?
Upon further investigating the situation I was offered an entree+drink for my ātroubleā. When I come in store to redeem that offer the front staff deny its existence- furthering my frustration of the whole situation. Emailing doesnāt help either as they often take 3-4 days between emails to...
