firstly, i am thankful for this opportunity to publicly post my 1st time experience at the ihop located @253 livingston st. bklyn, ny 11201. i have been to other ihops at other locations but this one was the worst experience. i gathered my family to meet with my nephew ( on leave from marines to visit brooklyn). we were a party of 6 (seated within 20 min ) the seating felt cramped and uncomfortable. i asked if we could sit somewhere that had bigger space and i was told, 'no. this is where we seat you.' it made us feel insulted because we were off to the side in the back area near a cash register. the area was not aesthetically appealing. also, the dining table wasn't already cleaned off. a used empty coffee pot was left behind on table as well. we felt the tone of the seating was DISMISSIVE AND CONTROLLING. i requested the person who seated us to please remove the used empty coffee pot. the person who sat us thought it was a fresh ordered coffee pot. (with raised eyebrows i briefly questioned my family whether we ought to leave ihop and go somewhere else. after a long while someone else came to take our order and also remove the used empty coffee pot. i SPECIFICALLY REQUESTED if i may have my check SEPARATE. the waiter said, "yes." my SEPARATE CHECK was to pay for my order and my marine nephew, and my grandson (3 people on one separate check APART from the other guests. my order: 2 coffees (they put 2 cups on table and 2 pots of coffee on table) , 1 steak omelet, 2 orders of chocolate chip pancake, 1 glass, lemon aide, 1 hot chocolate. TOTAL $67 tip and tax incl. on combined check with other guests which i DID NOT WANT TO HAVE TO WAIT FOR BECAUSE THE BILL WAS PASSED AROUND FROM PERSON TO PERSON before i even got to see it and i wanted to SAVE MY OWN SEPARATE CHECK FOR PERSONAL RECORDS but by now i just wanted to leave the ihop and never return ever. fyi; another person ordered coffee and got a coffee cup but did not get a pot of coffee...they drank only one cup from my pot because it was not clearly explained how it was being served. they complained about their bill showing $3.75 for coffee and they had only a coffee cup and did not receive a coffee pot. IT WAS HELLISH. i just wanted to pay and leave the place. i don't even know what the hell was going on. i felt i was being cheated. i encouraged my grandson to 'hurry up and we will wrap the food to go' i lost my appetite. someone came to our table (no one introduced themselves) this person says, 'how is everything going?' i replied, i will not say bad things while i am eating.' the person walked away. i had a lot to say, but i did not want to spoil my marine's visit and offend my grandson's ears. THE SERVICE WAS BAD. the food was ok. (edited version). thank you for your time and consideration in...
Read moreThe main reason I went to visit IHOP was the 60 cents pancakes, I mean who doesn't love their pancakes. I visited the downtown Brooklyn location on Livingston street. I walked in and there were a lot of people so I thought the wait would be a long one but it was 15 mins (yes, I'm getting my short stack and before 7pm đđ˝đđ˝đđ˝) I sit down and look at the menu (who am I kidding, I really just want the short stack) I was seated at table 32 and 10 mins later no one even stopped by to greet me and usually at the restaurant no matter how busy the waiter would at least stop by and say, Hi my name is______, I'll be right with you. I went to the Hostess to ask her if my waitress had come in yet and she says well it's only been 10 mins. I should have walked away then but I just had to have the pancakes. The hostess found the waitress and I heard her say so before walking over to me and sarcastically saying "sorry I took too long, what would you like " second sign that I should have said nothing and walked out but my belly at this point just kept shouting pancakes. I stared at the menu so long O wanted to place a to go order and I told my waitress that. I asked for a water with lemon and my short stack and began dancing on the inside before I noticed another 15 mins went by before I even received my water (why does it take so long to turn on the faucet, should I be choking to get some attention??) The waitress returns with the water and pancakes said nothing and walked away. Now I'm angry and couldn't enjoy my short stack the right way but since I'm placing my order to go I'll try again tomorrow. I'm done eating and I'm sitting there like a child whose parent forgets them at school, I walk over to the register, she walks over 5 mins later. I said to her "I was waiting to place the to go order but you never came back" She simply responded "I was busy" so I said "I guess that meant me being a customer at a table didn't matter " she had the audacity to be argumentative. At this point I'm beyond angry I didn't enjoy my short stack and the waiter is making me feel like I did something wrong, that makes me sad because I used to be a hostess in my early yrs of college and because of the hard work and sharing tips, I always tip great but I just couldn't even leave the change from the dollar at this point. I wanted to speak to a manager but I was treated like a step child enough and wanted to just leave. Never will I ever step foot...
Read moreThis is my favorite IHOP to go to because it's usually not too busy on a Sunday during lunch time and it's pretty affordable when compared to the other sit-down restaurants in the area.
Their IHOPPY hour menu is great. You can get a full-size burger with french fries for only $6 as well as a couple of other menu items as long as it's after 3pm (and until 9/10pm I think). There aren't many options on this particular menu and they also have smaller sized items like mozzarella sticks and chicken strips for $4 which is an amazing price.
However, I will say that if you're expecting to get 3 full size chicken strips for $4, you would be mistaken. They definitely cut down on the sizes for the chicken strips (and probably do for the mozzarella sticks too), but at the price point, it's still a fair buy.
It's also worth noting that they seem like they try to offset these prices by adding a couple of extra dollars to their drinks. A glass of Pepsi was $5.09 and an iced tea was $4.99. That's over $10 on two drinks? On the bright side, they have free refills for fountain drinks.
Another thing that worth mentioning is that HOP finally introduced a rewards program which is actually pretty decent in terms of spending to rewards ratio. So when I come here, I don't feel like I could be spending my money more efficiently elsewhere because at least when I spend money here, I'm getting a bit more back in my pocket because I can redeem a free burger or something using my points which I actually did while I was here. You just have to make sure you tell your server.
Oh, and for anyone wondering, it's located right in front of the...
