City Pointe is coming up! However, I have to give my honest opinion and this is what I will do. Good News! The DeKalb Market and cool art decor is superb. I really like the organic street eating feeling I get as I peruse through the various vendor stations. Tiger Rising store has great knick knacks for the home at affordable rates. The Alamo dine in movie theater is nice to experience. While my Asian Thai Tofu salad was delicious, it wasn't worth the $15 for a vegan dish. This not including tax and tip which exceeds $20 by the time you're done ๐๐ Nonetheless, I like the fact that there's a bar lounge area to hang out and have adult time with your adult friends NO teens, Tweens, or kids allowed ๐๐๐. There's one more thing I forgot to mention and that's sometimes as your movie is playing waiters/tress are taking your order and bringing your meal during the movie so it distracts from one being fully engaged in the movie especially if it's juicy. It'd be nice to be able to go on an app or the website and pre order your meal so that during the previews or right before the movie starts everyone has their order. Ok now on to the other 2 major stores in the mall Target and Century 21. I like this Target for the fresh produce and fruit options. But, for clothes and shoes shopping ๐ฎ. They don't restock up on shoes often and once a shoe is gone it doesn't get replenished. The shoe selections seem like they may be the factory version of shoes that didn't sell well at another location so they all get shipped to this Target. There's not a huge or even stylish variety of clothing styles. Though you may find that one cute floral top that's in season or even that basic black dress. The home decor is very niiiiice at this location and the body care options on one brand is better at City Pointe Target then Atlantic Mall Target. I was a bit shocked by this discovery on the shoes and clothes because for the HIGH rent these stores are paying at City Pointe, I thought the merchandise would reflect exquisite design and taste, but it really doesn't (moreso in Century 21). This Century 21 is almost a joke except for makeup and bags. Ehhh Em ( clears throat) the clothing for both men and women also has that wholesale factory store feel. I'm even more appalled by this fact. YES it is Century 21 and yes they do have lower costing name brand clothing in general however, it's always had a certain je ne sais quoi essence about it. But this Brooklyn one feels like someone said, "OH let's just merchandise this C21 with left over hand me downs from it's rich cousin in the Financial District. These Brooklynites won't know the difference, They'll take whatever we give them because they'll be SO ELATED that a C21 exists in their hood. But we'll provide a few classic pieces for the rich folks moving into the new developments paying 4-5k a month for a studio one bedroom. We have to make them feel like they're worth the million bucks they're spending in rent...๐๐๐ฌ๐" So there you have it, those who think they're getting a great deal for quality clothing/ service and those who are getting sub level quality for over priced merchandise! All the same. Either way the mall is still growing and more stores are moving in, so hopefully these stores will be ones to add flavor and momentum for me to want to actually shop here. Until then I'll stay cruising, chilling out relaxing, cooling and maxing at Trader Joe's ( which I Love, just not the extreme cold conditions and the new price hikes ๐ค๐ซ) and the...
ย ย ย Read moreMy first time (& eventually 2nd, 3rd, haha) eating at the food court... Which, Google has now thought me is actually called "City Point BKLYN'... When I got in I asked where to eat and someone explained that there was this pretty substations food court under the... I wanna say Target? There were a bunch of chain/bigger stores in the area. ... Anyway First time back in BK since ๐ท, & I was seeing a 20 year anniversary show (Say Anything, if that adds, or more likely discredits my review to some random onlooker ๐) at the recently reopened (GORGEOUS) Paramount Theater... Which I guess I'm about to review next. I'm sorry for all the supposition and random info, I don't usually do these, but I had a stressful day and was looking back at some recent memories. Anyway, back to the point (the ADD meds are really doing wonders for me rn ๐, if you hadn't come to that conclusion yourself... But anyway, when I heard 'food court under the target' (even in BK), I didn't hold my breath. By the end of my day I had gone there at least once a day. It's a little / reminded me s little of Smorgasburg, but with actual room to sit and eat, although there are so many vendors and such a variety of international tastes, that you should expect to look extra touristy (and I'm from NY), as your jaw drops, your pupils dilate, and your taste buds salivate. Most vendors have very limited space, usually 5-7 chairs in a bar-like setting, but at one point are at a table, and at another, there was no setting... So, really, outside of looking at some legit pics, I'm really trying to convey that it could aptly just be called a TASTE/BITE of everywhere, altho, obvi it's original name is way more BK. While there I tried (sorry, I can't recall names, but your eyes/noes/or simply your curiosity will have you trying everything you can) Korean stand that has delicious chicken and rice, too many macarons to admit (went back 2 days for more ๐๐คค, and a really unique ginger drink from a third location. Honestly, the environment, the aesthetics, and the completely unexpected nature of what ended up being an enormous underground 'food court' gave me a speakeasy vibe... One that I'm missing rn, as I sit here thinking about it. I actually had a horrible time staying at the Marriot, they moved me 3 times after trying to screw me out of my room (whole other review that needs to be written, ended up comped with a free night), but really, my point is, between what ended up being a 1.3 hour $100 taxi ride from JFK (traffic), and the fact I didn't really find the area to be that entertaining (outside of the amazing concert), the one thing that would bring me back is this place... Of course, the train line was down the entire time I was there, but, next time I'm in NYC if def go back just for the feel and diversity (esp if I had a friend to show)... NYC has amazing food everywhere, what makes this place so special is the mix of the atmosphere, the underground, seemingly Semi-Costrophobic feel, that quickly disappears as you feel immersed in. The language of food from around the world. (At one point the girl next to me asked for something Chinese and the chef responded - 'wrong Continent' - just in case I haven't repeated similar ideas enough already. ๐ Anyway, if you're in the area, or looking for an adventure... Or maybe going to a concert, def check it out... You'd have ZERO idea it is even there. PS SWITCHING FROM 4โญ to 5 because I totally forgot there's a mini Katz deli in...
ย ย ย Read moreI like City Point, but I'm a Brooklynite, I still remember and yearn for my nostalgic Albee Square Mall from my childhood. The infrastructure was completely different on the inside, it somehow seemed bigger and more spacious than City Point as it currently is. However I do like the shop selections that have and the blended food court downstairs was a dope idea. I like the book store and the cookies spot as well. The dine in movie theater is okay the staff isn't the best though. The waitress basically tried to accuse me of getting a free drink I literally wrote down on order paper. Like u brought us to order of food and his drink, what was I washing my snacks down with.... my spit?? It was what she said and how she said it when responding to me nicely asking where my drink was after watching mutliple people who arrived after me and my friend get their drinks and food. They brought my drink damn near near the end of the movie. Tje food was subpar as well.I will never go back to that theater and will encourage others to...
