I actually went to this IHOP I want to say a month ago. This particular day I actually wanted to treat myself to something special and since I really like IHOP's pancakes and the butter pecan syrup that only they have I said, why not. Full disclosure: I am very leary of businesses in the Bronx. They dont necessarily scream we care about you as a customer. This is based off of living in the bronx for so long. Does this apply to every place Ive been to, no. But enough to make me rather go elsewhere to spend my money. Now, back to IHOP. I go inside, excited about those pancakes, boy and from the moment I go inside to be seated the person was initially engaged with another customer so I waited. Once he was done with the customer, for whatever reason I still had to wait, but okay. (I have to add that Im at a time in my life where I am starting to speak up for myself more) As I noted there were plenty of seats available a slight annoyance rose in me realizing I was waiting just to be waiting so I said something. The person seemingly finally noticed my 6'2 self and had someone sat me down. I waited even longer for the waiter to come with the menu. It typically takes me a long time to order something but in this case I already knew what I wanted - PANCAKES - I just figured I would have the omelette platter. So, as I waited an extraordinary amt of time for the waiter to get back I noticed there was only 1 syrup on the table. Flabbergasted, once the waiter finally returned to take my order I asked about the one true syrup and he said some weirdness about the size of the table. Im like, whatever, do you have and when will it be on the table. Once my food arrived I was all excited. Look, I'm a big girl. I likey food 😋. So, because this was a supposed to be a treat for myself anyway, I was trying my best to ignore the possible prejudicial behaviour being flung my way and get on to why i came in the first place. To eat. Thank Goddess the pancakes were standard IHOP pancakes or I would have had to ban all affiliates, but they were good, especially when I finally got the one true syrup. It was the omelette that was strangely confusing. I ordered the mushroom omelette and it was oddly seasoned. The ends of the omelette were seasoned well, but for some strange reason the middle of it was bland as diner food and thats at least 1/3 of it. The cheese was 1/2 cooked. Thankfully, the eggs were fully cooked. I pretty much turned my attention to the pancakes and one true syrup in order to substain my level of forced satisfaction. Coffee was standard, a little watered down, but not a significant rating change. The 2 was basically due to the awkward possible discrimatory feeling I received while being there. It was enough to let me know that my money can either stay with me or go towards a place a bit more welcoming to me filling their pockets. I am damn sure not going to volunteer to give my money to a place that oversees their employees enforcing a certain treatment of a particular customer just because they may have certain prejudices on how they look. The one on 174th is not great but at least I can go in knowing i will be seated in 1/2 the time with 3x the amt of people in it and options for the one true syrup without getting a look of annoyance when...
Read moreI came to this restaurant with my 10 year old daughter for breakfast around 10am. When we arrived we were told that there was a 15 to 20 minute wait, we said cool and did a little bit of shopping for about 15 minutes or so. When we got back to the restaurant we were up next, I thought it was great and we were seated. The waitress came in good timing to take our order giving us just enough time to look through the menu and choose our order. She took our orders and about 5 to 10 minutes later we received our drinks with a plate of condiments (ketchup, salt, pepper, A1 sauce and sugar) no napkins. My daughter received an iced tea that she said was tart and used all the sugar in it. My daughter asked the waitress for more sugar and then began the wait. As we waited a good hour for food another woman across from us waited the same amount of time for a manager (for her own personal reasons I don't know about). When our food finally came you can see in the pictures I provided my steak had a piece of pork bacon in it, and my daughter, who ordered sunny side up eggs, received scrambled eggs. And we still had no napkins. The waitress took my plate and after about 20 more minutes brought it back and they brought sunny side up eggs for my daughter. Still with no napkins. The manager came to bring my steak and I explained to him that they never even brought us napkins or my daughter's sugar and after waiting forever... things such as the eggs, turkey bacon and pancakes were cold. He then had them bring the napkins, sugar and an extra order of everything we ordered for free. Truthfully that's the reason they were able to keep 3 stars instead of 2. I was told the chef was new and still learning so I'm hoping on my next visit they're more organized and I can raise this rating. In all I wouldn't exactly suggest this restaurant for good breakfast eats in the bronx just yet, they need more time to get...
Read moreIf I could rate it zero stars I will . Haydee C is a horrible server . We went to ihop on a Sunday ( it was kinda busy ) but we got a table it was just two of us . why did we have to wait A WHOLE HOUR to get our order taken ? A WHOLE HOUR . No drinks . nothing. only a menu .
We keep asking the hostess if she can get our server and our server just walks passes us as if she doesn’t care . we was in the FRONT it wasn’t hard to miss us . Our rude server was complaining to another waitress about how she’s having a bad day and all this . So what ? we did nothing to you . we just sat down and patiently waited . we could have involved the manager or walked out but we didn’t. again we had no drinks and waited an hour to be served .
I worked at ihop in high school I understand how stressful and busy it can be but what I didn’t do was disrespect my customers. i made sure they had water even if I was running busy and reassured them I would get with them soon .
She served everyone BUT us until we had to bug the hostess 3 times to get our waiter . finally she came . Barley attended to us and acted again like she didn’t want to serve us . Then finally picked up the pace when it came time for the check . She got no tip AT ALL she doesn’t deserve one . Haydee C is a horrible server and needs customer service training . chatting it up with all the other family’s around us but when it comes to us acts as if we have a contagious disease. If you get Haydee C you maybe treated...
