I’ve been meaning to try Jerrell's BETR BRGR for ages, and finally had a chance during Labor Day Weekend. At this joint it’s all about plant based burgers, which to me has always been counter intuitive. I’ve never been a vegan fan, but I wanted to give it a try. Jerrell’s is a modest place with basically an ordering window and a pickup window. Most people get their food to go, as the seating area is very limited. The menu is very limited also, but I think keeping it simple is good. I ordered the OG (original), along with loaded chili fries., and anxiously waited for my first vegan experience. Everything came pretty quickly and nicely packaged. I elected to have it there while it was hot and fresh. My first bites were surprising. Wait, this is vegan? The cheese, too? Isn’t this supposed to taste like cardboard and leave you hungry and unsatisfied? I have to say the burger was crazy delicious! Ok, you can def tell that you’re not eating beef, but on its own merits it was very tasty. Still a bit suspicious (hey, I’m a native New Yorker, and don’t believe squat), I tried the chili fries. OMG…next level. It was rich, hearty, and all so good. I don’t know how this is possible, but it was among the best I’ve ever had. If this is vegan then I’ve been missing something.
Those two things I had from Jerrell’s were very, very good. Not good ‘for vegan’, but just plain good. We all know the benefits of this type of eating, but I never ventured into that world because I didn’t want to forego flavor. But this place dishes up evidence that eating cleanly can be done without sacrificing taste. Now I want to go to a vegan restaurant and try more. Strongly recommended especially for non-vegans. It will certainly surprise you, and I’m sure you’ll love it as...

Read moreWe went to a free walking tour and this place was recommended to us. It certainly did not disappoint! The wait time was approximately 30 minutes (busy during lunchtime). There are some chairs undercover and some outside. The menu is rather small (3 brgr options) but well priced. We ordered two burgers and waffle fries ($4). When we got our brgrs, I noticed that it only had one fake beef patty. We got two Lil‘ btr brgr ($9) although we had paid for two O.G btr brgr ($12) 🍔 I took it that they had accidentally mixed up our order and I didn’t want to make a big fuss about it, so when I went back I suggested to them to just put another patty on top instead of making a whole new burger. Then the nice lady (African-American looking, I forgot her name, sorry!) apologised, fixed it straight away & made up for it by throwing in some extra fries 🍟 The food was delicious and better priced than most vegan places we have been to in NYC so far. Before we left, I wanted to order a Mojo (or Moho?) Mug but sadly they had run out, so I ordered a small soft ice cream ($5 or 6) with sprinkles & cookie crumbles instead. Amanda was so friendly and not only gave us a portion to share but also a recommendation for another vegan eatery option as we are eating our way through New York. Overall a good place to go to support a local business & veganism, definitely recommended! Thank...
