Joe’s Shanghai Chinatown Manhattan NYC ✅

The wait time around 50 minutes to 1 hour on Wednesday (holidays weekdays) at around 6pm, also depends on how big is your party. Once the table ready and we sat down, everything flew pretty fast, ice water for each person was delivered without even asking, and they started taking orders as soon as we’re ready, in 5-10 minutes the soup dumplings was served.

We ordered the pork meat soup dumplings 小龙包, crab meat with pork meat soup dumplings 蟹粉小笼包and pan fried noodles with beef 各式两面黄. All food are super delicious, both soup dumplings, the best seller, are very juicy and flavorful, especially the crab meat one. Don’t forget to order for take out for tomorrow’s breakfast!

The restrooms located in downstairs. We didn’t see any access for strollers or wheelchairs for restrooms, but you may asked the servers, if you need one. At this new restaurant, the restrooms are pretty decent, with 3 booths for women and 1 booth for men, also pretty clean, they might run out of toilet paper soon if they don’t checked as often.

Overall, we’re happy to be back to this new location, and couldn’t wait for another round!

📍46 Bowery, New York, NY 10013 ⏰ Daily 11AM - 10PM 🚾 Women & Men restrooms are downstairs with several booth inside each restrooms. ♿️ the dining area are accessible for strollers and wheelchairs but for the restrooms must ask the servers because they’re downstairs. 🅿️ street parking or parking garage close by next building

Service: 2/ 5 star Food: 4/5 stars

Getting there on a Saturday night, I expect it to be busy. Was told it's a 30 minute wait for 3 people, ok that's fine and they gave me my ticket number. While waiting, the guy with a mic kept yelling out ticket numbers ( that was going by quantity of people, not ticket number order) we kept hearing him say all the 2 tops but none of the other 3 or more tables. There was a lot of people waiting for their number and delivery app drivers were getting angry as well. The guy was having a meltdown on the amount of people waiting . 30 minutes went to over an hour wait. I'm sorry but don't give me a time frame where it isn't true, where the are other errands to finish. Some friends were in the japanese restaurant next door and finished within the waiting time of our restaurant. Finally we were seated. The food was good and brought out at adequate timing, since we had over an hour to look at the menu and Ordered within sitting down. Tried to order hot water multiple times, I finally got it with the third server. Is hot water that much of a rarity?? Pan fry noodles, pork soup dumplings, scallion pancakes, fried fish, all meats dish, and jellyfish were all tasty. 2 dishes came with jalapeños and those definitely packed some heat, even without the jalapeños on the dish . The bill came and automatically charged us 18% tip. That was laughable. The service wasn't that great. Their untrustworthy wait time, mainly their organization in the restaurant watered down their tip a lot, and tries to get hot water did not deserve an...

If you need to hear an honest and not internet-pressure-based opinion about Joe's Shanghai this is it. I visited New York from a country that doesn't have that many oriental food options but the dishes that I had back in my place were similar. The only thing that was different: THE TASTE.

When I tell you that I was smiling the whole time I am not being dramatic. Everything about eating there was an amazing experience. The taste, texture, smell, temperature, apperance, quality. It was overwhelmingly nice. We were in a group of 7 and we ordered some food that we all shared, and everyone tried everything that was on the table. The service was great, always sincere and smiling. I recommend eating the little bowl of rice that you get with any order (I think) with the leftover soy vinegar (I'm not sure if I got the name right) from the famous soup dumplings. My personal favorites were crispy beef and cold sesame peanut noodles.

The other thing was the price, I think it was reasonable for the portions and the quality but I believe that you can go to other nice restaurants in Chinatown for lower price.

Interior was nice, I could get the vibe.

Last thing was the wait, we had to get a number and everyone had to be ready to be finally seated so I don't recommend coming here in rush hours when you have places to be.

I was thinking about rating 4⭐ just because the wait outside but there's roofing nearby and it is certain that this kind of hyped place is crowded. And rembember: overhyped doesn't equal overrated so visit...
