The Hallmark for rating these patties is the old Christine's Patty Shop located in the triangle space off Flatbush Ave. So far, nothing comes close them in NYC. These Juici patties are mostly TASTELESS. Ordered from them on 2 separate occassions and both times was a big disappointment. The positives: they're hot, flaky, and have some kind of filling that you can see. The negatives: the patties are tasteless, inconsistent ( each patty tastes different even though I only ordered spicy beef. Some had no spicy pepper at all, others tasted like beans without spice, others tasted like bread & others tasted like nothing) This makes no sense when we asked the person at the counter to please make sure to give us only the spicy beef patties. If there were none left, they should not sell us the remainders of other flavors to get rid of them when we only wanted the spicy beef. Either way, there's a problem because I did not get what I ordered. This happened twice which makes me believe that they don't follow a recipe for the filling. No quality control. My other complaint is that they don't have enough drinks. They were out of ginger beer. Seems like they run out of ingredients like Scotch Bonnet peppers, & beef then fill the centers with beans and bread crumb gravy. This is unacceptable!! We will not be going back. The counter person was rude when we requested to only get the spicy beef. The person who ordered was a born Jamaican from St Elizabeth so this was not about being unfamiliar with Jamaican food. On top of that, this place is very expensive for a place that gives you bread crumb gravy, or beans instead of spicy beef. I really wish we could have gotten...
Read moreThe patties were great but I'm very disappointed in service. I believe this a pattern with them to substitute your patty when they are out of the patties you want instead of just letting you know. Too many people have ordered and only to have received incorrect order for this to be a coincidence. If they continue this deceitful practice they are gonna lose customers. Don't substitute my chicken patty with beef. I ordered a dozen: 3 chicken, 4 spicy and 5 mild only to receive one chicken and two beef patties inside a bag clearly marked chicken. To the owner if you are condoning this practice you better stop. I was so excited to have a taste of my teenage years but now feel robbed and gotten-over on. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED. THE FASTEST WAY TO LOSE CUSTOMERS AND PRODUCTS IS YOU CONTINUING THIS. I will give you another chance but I will be checking each patty before I leave and at the end of the day you will be losing money when I find patties in my order that I didn't approve substitution for when you have to throw out the ones I touch and have to give me what I ordered. You are two weeks open to be starting off like this. SHAME ON YOU JUICI BEEF.
PS: I noticed that the owner hardly address negative reviews......
Read moreCan honestly say the long wait was not worth it. A someone who grew up eating patties in Brooklyn and Jamaica, this patty is slightly below mid. I ordered 2 beef patties with coco bread. The crust was fine, but the meat was not flavorful enough. I was surprised. My friend that ate the patty said it taste like the patty you get at the corner store and I have to agree. Extremely disappointing.
To make matters worse, they charge $3.50 for coco bread, which is not even baked fresh on site! I'm a New Yorker and used to high prices, but that's robbery. Especially when you can go to so many other Jamaican bakeries in bk that have delicious coco bread that they bake fresh daily in the bakery and they charge around $1.50-$2. The juici coco bread and patty was NOT IT!
I did hear that they changed the ingredients in America from what they typically use in Jamaica, so maybe that's why the patties weren't that good. I also asked one of the Black workers that work there if they're paid a livable wage and judging by their reaction(which ended with them saying they're looking for a better job and not planning to stay long) the answer is no. Take from that...
