I am writing this review to bring a serious issue to the attention of the management regarding potentially dishonest practices by staff at your establishment.
Recently, my wife and I visited your restaurant while we were in the Bleeker street area on 27th. As practicing Muslims, we were pleased to find a halal option and decided to stop in for a meal.
At that time I saw 3 staff at the front 1 woman, 2 guys , one of them were older than the other one.
Wife took a rice bowl with tandoori chicken.
When it was time to pay, an elderly gentleman at the cash register insisted that it was cash only. This caught me by surprise, as I hadn’t seen any signs stating that. However, I happened to have cash on me and paid accordingly. He did not provide a receipt, and at the time, I assumed the system might have been temporarily down.
While seated and eating, I noticed two customers came in after me. One of them tried to pay with a card, but the same cashier pressured him to pay in cash. Only after the customer explained that he didn’t have any cash at all did the cashier reluctantly allow him to pay by card. Shortly after that, another customer paid for a soda using a card, no questions asked.
This was extremely troubling, because it meant the card payment system was fully functional, and yet I had been forced to pay in cash without a receipt. The inconsistency, paired with the cashier’s behavior, raised serious concerns.
I approached the register and asked for a receipt. The elderly man looked uncomfortable, asked my name, and attempted to write a handwritten receipt on a blank sheet of paper!! even though I had just seen him print receipts from the system for the other customers.
When I insisted on a proper receipt, the younger guy stepped in and re-entered my order into the system to issue a printed receipt. During this, the original cashier stood to the side and mumbled something about their “system going down sometimes.” That explanation simply doesn’t hold, especially after what I witnessed firsthand.
From what I observed, this appears to be a clear case of staff attempting to take cash payments without recording them in the system potentially for personal gain. This is not just unprofessional; it is theft.
I urge you, as management, to conduct an internal investigation immediately. If staff are bypassing the register for cash transactions, your business is being stolen from, and customer...
Read moreWe were looking for quick but quality food and boy did we find a place that if I say was out of this world in every which way would NOT be inaccurate. If you are in commutable distance of Bleecker and 6th Ave (or wherever this Owner decides to open an eatery), do yourself a favor and it. If you do not like it don't go there again. Or you could be like us who live in North Jersey and look to no other place whenever we are in the area and in the mood for Mediterranean/Lebanese/Arabic/Middle Eastern food. We have told countless friends and whoever has had a chance to try it have absolutely loved it and are now eat here on regular basis.
What is so great about this place that has made us & our friends love it? Answer is - "Everything". From the moment you walk in, the look and the feel of this place is simply uppi-dy. Looking at the Menu, one can tell that the owner prefers quality over quantity. You can see everything they are preparing for you. Staff is friendly and very courteous. Tons of side items to chose from.
Since we discovered it a few months back, among ourselves and countless friends who have eaten here, we have tried every single item from the Menu and they are all mouth watering. One thing I do not understand how the owner is maintaining such prices specially when you consider the quantity and quality you get. Seeing how expensive things have gotten, it is unbelievable. But for us, even if he was to raise the prices by 20% (a $10 item to $12 etc), it would still be much cheaper than all other places. Speaking of the owner if you are lucky, he (I believe his name is Zahir) will come to you & ask if everything is ok. He is an amazing gentleman. Truly a very nice guy.
To sum it up, do YOURSELF a FAVOR!! Go try this place. Brilliant is an...
