Keep walking⊠wait, dont walk, run!!!! Youâre almost to the Stonewall Inn! Donât fall for this tiny trap nestled between two great bars (The Duplex and stonewall). We stopped here because it was early and they had just begun setting up outside seating, a tent, and a road closure around this area. After enjoying a few drinks we decided to order our last round; after doing so, a man came by to deliver the drinks (30 mins later) and notified us we had 5 minutes to drink them. Mind you, we also had a toddler with us. The other tables outside, maybe 3 total, were not made aware of this time constraint. We clearly had been there for quite some time, yet were the first to be told we had to leave? A football bar that was less than half full? Shocking, a bar in an area that is known to be accepting of everyone, tells a group with a baby they have to leave?? If youâre looking for a place to hangout and have drinks, walk 10 more feet to The Stonewall Inn⊠itâs iconic, friendly, and family oriented. Never in my life did I except to feel unwelcome in New York City. The Duplex or Stonewall will bring better service, experience, and a better representation of the...
Read moreIf you're looking for a unique bar with plenty of character in the West Village, look no further. Of course, it should be noted that the particular flavor of character at Kettle of Fish may not be for everyone: the owners are Midwestern transplants from Wisconsin and the bar serves as a haven for others who have escaped to New York from the Midwest. Here amid the dive-bar vibe, you'll find plenty of Green Bay Packers paraphernalia strewn about, two dart boards, arcade games, and an unpretentious vibe. Football fans should be warned, though; the wait to get in during a Packers game, especially during the playoffs, can begin to resemble the line at clubbing venues found elsewhere in the neighborhood. That said, get there early and enjoy the taste of (a Midwestern) "home"--they...
Read moreThe reason Iâm giving this bar such a low review is simply because one of the employees was incredibly disrespectful to my sister and actually put his hands on her. Last night, the bar was incredibly crowded and there was a garbage can sitting awkwardly away from the wall in a crowded area. My sister and I were trying to get by so she moved the trash can to under a counter, and before she could turn around and put it back, one of the employees shoved her from behind. She turned around, asked what his problem was, and he proceeded to yell at her for TEMPORARILY moving a garbage can. It was incredibly disrespectful and I am genuinely still taken aback by his actions. In no situation is it okay for an employee to put his hands on a customer. We wonât be...
