The food an ambience was incredible as always. As a long time customer of the bakery I was so excited to be spending Valentine’s Day celebrating at one of my favorite places, the food and wine was wonderful. But I do have some notes on the service. We were told that placing our whole order upfront was how they operated. Which is fine I guess, but everything came out so rushed so they could turn the table over quickly that when I wanted to cancel one of our glasses of wine it was made to be a thing. The glass had not even been poured yet. So I paid for it and had to finish drinking it downstairs as we put our coats on. We were asked if we wanted dessert before this too only to be asked if we were finishing before the dessert even came. If the context helps there were two two tops and we were sat at a 4 top when we went upstairs. I assume we would not have been rushed so fast if that had not been done. There were people there before and after us at other tables. For such a beautiful night and food it was just a bit of an unsettling experience. We were celebrating our engagement and even looking back I’m unsure if we were charged for something we didn’t order due to the rush of the evening. Would I go back? Maybe….but I’d order 1 course 1 glass and after that go down the street for the time to enjoy my partner’s company over our meal. For close to $300 with a nice tip I would hope not to have been rushed like that while trying to add more to the bill a...
Read morei absolutely love the bakery so i was so happy to finally check out the dinner that they offer! i’ve heard some people say it can be a little cramped which is true but we had the table next to the window so we were removed from the possibly crowded areas. the menu is small and is not the same as the one posted online so just be aware of that. we ordered the bread & butter, sunchoke comte potato gratin, pork chop and of course the chocolate mousse. the butter is the amazing french butter that you want and the bread is house made. the gratin was good but i wish it was a little cheesier (personal preference) the pork chop was amazing! it was a big portion and it came with a side of roasted carrots that may have been the best part of the night. the chocolate mousse was the other star. our server said he was able to take a pint home and i’m so jealous of him. i would buy one if i could because it’s truly amazing! they add salt so it’s a sweet and salty mix but the chocolate is good quality. the only thing that we didn’t enjoy were the utensils which might sound odd but they were just not strong enough to cut the pork. other than that everything was great all around and if you’re looking for a nice/less expensive meal...
Read moreFood was delicious and well flavored, but the prices crossed a firm line into offensive given the portion sizes. I understand it's more of a wine bar in theory, but the food prices are still entree level.
We ordered a $32 trout dish that was literally four tiny bites and came with .50 cents worth of vegetables. I'm used to eating out in NYC and have lived in Brooklyn for well over a decade, and still found this very egregious. Picture attached of the dish before any bites as proof, a pinky fingers worth of fish (look at size of lemon wedge in comparison)!
For a French wine bar, the only glass of red they have was $22 chilled glass that was light pink in color. That just seems inconsiderate / way to deliberately drive up the bill.
For one glass of wine, one trout, one galette, and bread and cheese, the bill was almost $200. We had to get pizza after because we were still hungry.
Food was delicious still (flavors were nice), and service was nice, but I just couldn't get over how offensive the size of the trout was for the price, I felt like I was being punked. Maybe they were just...
