Atmosphere & History Le Tout Va Bien retains its vintage charm: checkered tablecloths, French nostalgia crooning on the speakers, and walls adorned with Parisian memorabilia and celebrity portraits . It’s cozy—some describe it as “cluttered,” but that adds to its retro appeal . A convivial ambiance for pre-theater dining. ⸻ 🍽 Menu Highlights Appetizers • Escargots Persillés: Garlic butter-packed and served squealing hot. Served with house-baked baguette—perfect for dipping . • Pâté de campagne: Rich and savory, balanced by crisp mustard and toasted bread . • Additional options include foie gras and lobster Caesar salad with shrimp and half a lobster tail . Mains • Steak Frites: Grass-fed New York strip with crispy fries and a creamy au poivre sauce—an extra charge on the prix fixe but worth it . • Magret de Canard à l’Orange: Tender duck with savory-sweet orange sauce, served with potatoes and green beans . • Coq au Vin: Tender and flavorful, though some found it slightly underseasoned compared to standout dishes . • Salmon with Ratatouille: Flaky fish paired with perfectly stewed vegetables—a highlight of digital journal reviews . Desserts • Classics like Crème Brûlée, Profiteroles, Chocolate Mousse, and Apple Tart all earn praise for being elegantly executed and not overly sweet . • Vacherin: Meringue, fresh berries, and ice cream—an indulgent finish . 🎶 If you’re looking for a genuine French bistro experience near Times Square—complete with comforting classics, vintage ambiance, and good value—Le Tout Va Bien delivers. The pre-theater prix fixe combined with Happy Hour is a menu-lifting deal, and signature dishes like escargots, duck à l’orange, or steak frites stand out. Skip it if you’re after sleek décor or avant-garde cuisine—but if nostalgia meets solid cooking, this bistro hits the right spot.

I seriously consider coming here twice on one trip, even just to pop in for their souffle of the day (!!!). I don't even know where to begin, I had a very lovely time here. It was such a cute unassuming, unpretentiously French restaurant with the nicest waiter that gave it the perfect neighborhood-friend-next-door vibe. David made wonderful recommendations on the wine, the aperitif, and the dessert(s). I should have also asked for recommendations for food but I was very set on getting the pate, escargot, and the duck. I ended up going with his recommendation on the souffle of the day- a blueberry souffle: "the best one" he says. He isn't wrong. I have not stopped gushing about this souffle to any of my friends as one of the highlight of my trip. I eventually caved and ordered a second dessert, the creme brulee, because I am a sucker for creme brulee. It was a lovely creme brulee but it's definitely not the souffle. 😅 I had originally put them on my list as a pre-show dinner option (they offer a prefixe for $45!) but I am so incredibly glad to have gone here post-show. I got to enjoy and savor every part of my meal with no rush. Everything was delicious. Pate was house made, perfectly seasoned and textured. Escargot was garlicky and buttery. I even went through a whole basket of bread (and I am not usually a bread person) just eating it with the pate and the escargot. the duck was perfectly cooked with a lovely orange sauce. This will definitely make my list of repeats in NY for the delicious food, the cozy ambience, and the lovely service.

This is an authentic Bistro! From the owner to the waitstaff they are French, so the food, approach, and ambiance is truly French. My wife and I were trying different French restaurants this weekend and stumbled upon this gem. We were warmly greeted by Finda the bartender/server from Paris as we entered the Bistro. We started with a Chablis and a cheese plate. The cheese plate consisted of a Comte, Roquefort, and Camembert along with a candied walnuts, Apple and currant compote and a sliced baguette with French butter. Vincent, the owner of the restaurant, welcomed us as well. Vincent informed us he was from Brittany France which was an incredible coincidence because my wife and I were there last month. In matter of fact we stayed at an AirBnB very close to his hometown! I had dinner reservations for five people at another restaurant that evening, but because of the friendly interaction, good Chablis and cheese plate, I asked him if he could accommodate us and he immediately accommodated us. We had the house made Foie gras, baked Brie in puffed pastry, and shrimp with garlic and parsley. All were beautiful to look at and tasty as well. I have the beef Bourgogne with a light Pinot noir. My was was pleasantly surprised they had cassoulet as a special item for the day. She was talking about this all day while we walked from place to place, and the universe aligned its stars to provide it. What a coincidence! My son had the pasta with mushroom sauce with added chicken. His friend had the lobster macaroni and cheese, while his mom wanted the French onion soup. We followed up with the crème brûlée and chocolate mousse. Everyone loved the food, service, and authentic ambiance. We will be back. Thanks for a...

The inside is a bit smaller than it looked from the outside, but I liked the cozy feeling, and is better to control the crowed with family business. When we arrived, they had several empty tables, but they got completely packed quickly. It only has windows up front, so it was a bit dimmed even on a bright day, but that created that extra cozy feel to it. It was equipped with a large bar to the right, and tables packed as much as possible.

The first thing they brought to us, which was different from any other restaurant in city we have been to, was the complimentary bread and fresh cut veggies! What a great way to start the meal, very healthy!

Since we wanted to try several different kinds of dishes, we decided to order small plates, instead of any large, main dish. (I also hard that the main dishes has been influenced American food, so the appetizers are better and more authentic option.) We had Onion Soup Gratinée, Coquille (Scallop) Maison, Little Neck - Baked, Prosciutto with Melon, and Brie en Croûte. The appetizers were little over $10 average, which I felt was a bit high for the portion. I enjoyed the Brie the most, and then the onion soup. Scallop was the least memorable.

The staffs there were all French, and more casual and not-so-business like. It really was kind of down to earth, warm, family-type environment. I enjoyed our dining experience here, it was not the best, but we got the atmosphere we were looking for. The price seemed high, but then again, they are sitting in Theatre District, so maybe the price hike comes with the territory. Read my full review of this restaurant and food on my food blog,...
