My friend and I went here prime time on a Friday night and, given its high Zagat rating, we were surprised that we had no trouble getting a table. The food was excellent. We ordered three things. The Brussel sprouts were not whole but shaved and served with a nice dressing and crunchy things (either nuts or dried chick peas). I never had sprouts this way and loved the flavor. My friend enjoyed her kale salad. I ordered the orecchiette with chicken, a combination I never saw before, and it was spectacular. The pasta was quite large and seemed homemade. The shaved/grated Parmesan on top was flavorful. All together one of the best pastas I’ve had. It was a large portion, too, but I was sure to eat every bite. Read moreCame in here on a whim and what a great choice it was! Tucked into a quiet, cozy corner of the neighborhood, the decor and atmosphere felt like stepping into your cool, eclectic aunt’s house to catch up over a bottle of wine.
Food was excellent - approachable fare with some touches to make each dish unique and special to the restaurant:
Fried pickles - fresh, thinly sliced hand pickled cucumbers in a crispy batter. Never had any like this before and I’ll think of their freshness often when back in Chicago! Steak Frites was divine as well - the green peppercorns and the crust on the steak made for an excellent dish Rotisserie Chicken Baguette was like cheesy garlic bread with broccoli and chicken. I think this was our favorite of all of the things we got! Oysters, according to my dad, were the best he ever had!
