Lexington Publick â âââ 3/5
Lexington Publick in Harlem is a fun spot to grab a drink and catch a game, but when it comes to the food, letâs just say itâs a mixed bag.
I arrived there with friends, with plans to hangout before we continue on with our nightly activitiesâŠ.đ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł what does that even mean? Ok, focus! First off, the food. The chicken nuggets and jalapeño poppers had a little too much of a âwell-doneâ vibe for my taste. I appreciate a good char, but these felt more like theyâd been through a culinary boot camp! The chicken slider was another surpriseâ$17 for a grilled piece of chicken that was more shy than flavorful. I was expecting a fried chicken slider, (since thatâs the title of the sandwich) but it seems the kitchen had other plans. Oh, each slider came with one sliced pickle. And thatâs it. Just chicken, pickle and aioli. The chipotle aioli? A bit of a ghost, reallyânot much to write home about.
Now, letâs talk about the fries. They were definitely the highlight of my meal! But shockingly, they didnât come with the sliders, so I had to add them for another $9. I donât know but by the time I finished, realizing I spent $26 on chicken sliders and fries, I couldnât help but feel it was a tad on the pricey side.
However, the frickles (fried pickles) were a delightful find! They had just the right crunch and flavor, which gave me hope for the rest of the menu.
As for the atmosphere, itâs a great place to hang out! The chairs are comfy, and itâs a good spot to enjoy a game without feeling overwhelmed by noise, even when itâs busy. Plus, with no servers around, youâll get to channel your inner bartender and head to the bar for your drinks, which is perfectly fine by me.
So, if youâre looking for a lively spot in Harlem to enjoy drinks and watch a game, Lexington Publick can be considered a solid choice. Just make sure to come with a light appetite, and if youâre craving something hearty, perhaps consider ordering...
Read moreService is super slow and the bartenders are super disorganized and rude. The bartenders were very slow and at one point confused which drinks went to which tabs, even though the place was not very busy. The ambiance was dark, but noisy. A friend ordered a hot dog but the portion received was very small for the price. One of the bartenders came up to me, physically tapped me on the shoulder, and complained that he was not satisfied with how I tipped, telling me that he "hopes I never come back and hopes to never visit where I work." While I always tip 20%, the service here was remarkably poor and was an exception to what I usually do. The unprofessional and petty response from the bartender to physically touch me and complain about the consequences of his poor performance is appalling. I will not be going here again. Instead, I recommend nearby dives that are far more welcoming like Earl's,...
Read moreWhat does it take for lives that aren't white to matter? Are people constantly referring to me as the "Darker one or less dark??"
I realize this is my neighborhood and my local, but I draw the line when white bartenders that are maybe 21? Refer to patrons of the bar by the degree of how dark they are - to the Latino busboy. Did not think this bartender would take offense when I said "Hey let's find other ways to talk about people... Like the shade of their Shirt." Easier to describe skin tones? This establishment will succeed or fail Without me. Also wondering why the same guy that comes into the bar / he's allowed to grope or grab women? Don't go here.
So much more to share....so little time. Posting this on twitter Go to Earls. Better service, and nicer staff on the whole âșïž No for me,...
