Vinyl Beer — Restaurant in New York

This used to be my haven for decompressing after work but I experienced the worst customer service today. I was on the phone with my boyfriend while finishing my beer when I was told by the bartender “since you’re on the phone: usually, if someone is with you physically it’s okay but since you’re on the phone and the boss is here, you need to go outside. It disturbs the clients (mind you i’m the only client besides one other person who came later.) you don’t have to pay for your drinks just leave.” I was taken aback by this and went outside to continue my phone call. After my partner telling me to let this go, I could not let this slide, especially since I had been a regular for months. Analyzing the situation it seems ridiculous that a New York City bar denies customers phone calls inside, especially when they’re the only customer. Is it that serious? No. It never is! I shopped here on multiple occasions over a few years as it was my neighborhood craft beer shop. They have a decent selection for such a small space and seem knowledgeable about the local craft beer scene.

However, once the salesmen berated me about wanting to get more than three cans of beer to share with a friend.

They had no idea what my plans were but went on a rant about how three beers was plenty to share with a friend. They insisted I had more than enough. They were extremely preachy about alcohol consumption for someone who works in the beer industry.

It was rude and extremely off putting.

Love love LOVE this place. It’s such a comfort hang out spot for me and so many other regulars. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly and the patrons make fast friends with everyone. The fact that they allow families and dogs in are beyond considerate and welcoming! There are a few cool beer places with good selection around this part of the UES but the people really make this one even more worth it. 10/10 grab some artisanal cheese, Torres chips and a beer and...
