Lily Bloom Bakery is definitely one of the most popular bakeries in NYC among Cantonese group and their signature egg tart is a must-try. It’s owned by the same owner of Xin Fa Bakery, which we visited a while ago. The decor is bright, clean and modern with proper safety procedure during the pandemic. The options were not in a great variety but pretty decent and we had 2 pastries and a box of egg tarts. The egg tarts were delicious and it’s filling was super creamy & soft like the sweet version of steamed egg with thin & crispy layer. However, the 2 pastries we got weren’t good, plain with fragile texture. We might visit again if we are in the neighborhood but only for the egg tarts. The best thing is they accept credit card with no minimum.

Lily Bloom and and its parent store, Xin Fa, have been around for almost a decade. Last time, I visited this location was six years ago. After all these years, they still make some of the best Portuguese egg/custard tarts. The pastry is well done and crispy, and the tart itself is full and filling! Couple that with a cup of HK Style Milk Tea and you have the perfect afternoon tea and pastry combo! The HK Style Milk Tea is freshly brewed and made to order which on a cold or rainy day is perfect! The Taro Fruit Cake is also surprisingly well crafted. The cream is smooth, the taro filling is amazing (actual taro and not just cream), and the fruits are sweet! I will return to try out their other food and drinks. Overall, it’s lovely bakery.

Ok, today i went an bought a oreo cheesecake and a black berry cheesecake(which ive bought before). The oreo was really good, but the berry one was very yellow looking and felt old and tasted old. I was close so i took it back to them, she took a fork and pushed it down then denied it being old. I was like i always buy it, she then after like 5 mins was like pick something. I didnt even want it but took a ny cheesecake. I got home and opened to put it in my friday, and there was like nail marks around the edges. Like she stuck her fingers in it. I dont understand why offer something then do such a horrible thing. Never ever coming there again, save yourself some time and avoid their bad customer service.

Lily bloom is a great spot for chinese bakery goods. I love that they have joong or the sticky rice wrapped in lotus leaf. It's so good! When I buy it and it happens to still be warm, I'm tempted to just open it and bite into it.

People generally come in for the Portuguese egg tarts because Lily Bloom does not make regular egg tarts. However, their Portuguese egg tarts are definitely worth the hype. I've heard that people generally have to place an order for 6 otherwise the Portuguese egg tarts gets sold out before they can buy it. However, that's not always the case. If you buy a Portuguese egg tart and it's cold, bring it home to bake in the oven for a little bit and it will be worth it. It's a strong egg and butter taste and tastes way better hot than it does cold.

People also come here for the mango pomelo sago in a light bulb container. It's not as good as some dessert places, but it holds its own. I do...
