I was heading to Chinatown and walked by this place. It looked like a cosy little coffee shop so I decided to go back a check it out. BIG MISTAKE.
I got a chai latte with pumpkin spice and skim milk and a gingerbread cupcake. The chai latte was probably the worst chai latte I’ve ever had. It tasted like a root beer dum dum melted in with hot milk. It shouldn’t be called chai if it has NONE of the spice notes. And it gave me a stomach ache afterwards because the drink tasted so off putting. I still drank the whole thing because the small cup was 6 dollars and I WILL GET MY MONEYS WORTH.
Onto the cupcake, disgusting. I enjoyed the gingerbread cookie on top and I ate it first so I went in thinking the actual cupcake would taste good. I think if I threw away the cupcake after finishing the cookie, my overall experience at the shop would have been so much better than If I actually ate it. The frosting was WAYYY too sweet and I’m saying that as someone with a major sweet tooth. The gingerbread cupcake, I kid you not, had the weirdest floor cleaner aftertaste.
I also want to mention that I did try to go a buy a larger version of the gingerbread cookie since it actually tasted good but this company really has the nerve to sell the damn cookie for 6 dollars. Why the hell would they make a single cookie more expensive than their sandwiches???
Overall the meal was terrible and I would not recommend it. And this company has the nerve to say they have some of the best cupcakes in the city. I don’t know who lied to them but Costco’s cupcakes are way more edible that anything this store sells.
Minor nitpick but I also think it’s incredibly dumb for this company to not do this. Why is the the whole store decorated with Christmas decor but the cup that everyone gets their drink in is just a plain white cup??? I think that’s really cheap on the companies part because so many other cafes, mainstream and small businesses, normally take advantage of the holiday season and switch up the cup designs. But the drink was in an all white cup that had no lettering or anything special on it. Another disappointing detail. I understand they can’t change their recipes, even if they suck a lot. But please PLEASE put the drinks...

I know, that's saying a lot, but I've been to many bakeries, in and out of New York. Each time I go to LCB, they're consistent. There hasn't been one time that I've gone, where anything I ordered didn't taste fresh. Everything is house-made, which you taste in every bite. You can tell they take their time with perfecting these recipes. You also taste that everything is made with quality ingredients!
I've had so many of their cupcakes and cakes. My absolute favorite cake to get is the Brooklyn Blackout cake. I mean, it's been named the best chocolate cake in the country, and I see no lie! This chocolate cake never gets old to me. The cake itself is always moist and fluffy. The cake also isn't overly sweet, which I appreciate. Most of the sweetness comes from the icing, which.....this icing is like a rich pudding! It is chocolate Heaven, hear me?! I mean, it really is better than........well, a lot of things...seriously, even if you don't like chocolate, which I'm still confused by, whenever someone says that to me, you must at least take a bite of your friend's Brooklyn blackout cake from LCB.
Another one of my favorites is their strawberry shortcake. This one reminds me of the ice cream bar I'd always get as a kid! It is so good! Another great example of fresh, fluffy cake. The icing is strawberry flavored and has crunchy crumbles on the outer layers! In between the pink and white cake slices, is like this yummy strawberry jam! I could honestly eat a whole one of these cakes! I got a slice yesterday and opened the box and smelled strawberries right away. Best feeling ever!
Some of their other treats I've tried and love, are the blue velvet cupcake, the PB & J Cupcake, and the banana Nutella cupcake. I mean, honesty, whatever catches your eye when you go here, get it, and I'm almost certain that you'll love it! I approve...
Read moreUPDATE* THEY NEVER RESPONDED AFTER MY ATTEMPTS TO MAKE THINGS RIGHT AND ONE OF MY GUESTS JUST ASKED ME TO NEVER ORDER ANOTHER BIRTHDAY CAKE FROM THEM FOR MY FUTURE PARTIES AGAIN....
I wrote them this email below. They responded once then never responded to me again. It was upsetting because I really used to like this place I guess they don't care much after they already have your money, your experience doesn't matter. They asked if I could send the cake back after it was served at a children's birthday party. The children didn't even like the cake it was a failed cake and they didn't take responsibility for it...
I ordered two of your cakes for my son's birthday. We ordered a Brooklyn blackout and a confetti cake at your prince street location. Something went terribly wrong with the confetti cake. I've tasted your cake multiple times at your Brooklyn location so I am pretty familiar with the cake. The cake we received had an absurd amount of sugar that even the children did not want to eat it. The edges of the cake were completely stale, dry and hard. I must say it was a huge let down because we were very excited about the cake but the baker did not calculate the measurements correctly and the cake was unenjoyable for everyone. The Brooklyn blackout was phenomenal and very much the taste we know, however the confetti cake was not just less than expected but it was not fit to eat. Not one person liked or could get through more than one bite because of the level of sugar used in the cake. We live pretty far from the city in NJ and made a special trip just to pick up these cakes and I must say to see children not want to eat a birthday cake that's not exactly a cheap cake and took a lot of effort just to pick up was truly...
