Walked up from Mott St and noticed a line which was totally expected considering all the hype. I got on line and told myself that no matter what, don't tap out and go elsewhere - cross this one off your NYC list. I say this only because I was carrying a bunch of stuff and it was a hot Sunday - MDW 2024.
Anyway - you came here for the dining experience not my sob-story, . I waited about an hour - mind you, there was hardly a line if you wanted a pie, or pies, rather than slices. First thing I asked to the fellow in front of was if he knew if it was cash only. He replied that it was a good question and continued to ask the man in front of him and the query proceeded down line. We finally got a response that they do accept debit/credit (yes to Apple Pay - check about Android).
After about an hour I finally had sight of the showcase and noticed a variety of Sicilian slices. Everything looked good and I definitely wanted to try the spicy pepperoni which is one of their most requested slice and I think I also heard the 4 cheese was right behind. I asked for a slice of each and a can of root beer - damage done: a little less than $20. After about 10 mins the slices were hot and ready, I added some garlic, crushed red pepper, and some parmesan.
They don't have inside seating - they had some tables outside on the street but all were accounted for. I ended up walking up Mott and pulled to the side to eat. The pepperoni slice was good - tiny little pepperonis with a pool of grease swimming in some. Crispy crust toward the edges but doughy in the center. I kind of wish there was cheese on this slice and not so much tomato - everything kept sliding off. The 4 cheese slice was also good - I think better than the pepperoni only because of the mess factor.
Would I come back and get the same slices? Definitely, but I want to try other ones first. Oh and for the love of... don't ask for ranch, blue...
Read moreCame here for dinner on a Friday night and I have to say it wasn't as busy as I had thought, but that could be due to the fact that it was raining. The line moved fairly fast, but it's a little hard to not block the entrances to the neighboring establishments. Inside the store, they have a bunch of photos that they've taken with influencers/famous people. For most of them you kind of just have to know who they are b/c they don't have captions at the bottom of the photo calling out who is actually in the photo.
Pro: They take card.
Dining: There are no spots inside the establishment to dine, but they do have a make shift stand that covers 2-3 parking spots where you can stand and eat your pizza. It's covered, so you're mostly covered from the rain if it's raining--mostly b/c it can drip along the side/cracks.
Service: Not the best. It could be because I'm used to California hospitality, but the cashier was pretty rude. We were asking a couple of questions and he would just say "I don't know" and then turn around to chat with his co-worker. Not sure if that's their method to get the line to move faster or what but that was probably the only downside to this experience.
Best Part: The spicy pepperoni cups on the pizza. The pizza is also the perfect thickness, where it's not thin, but not thick like a Deep dish either. You do have to be a little careful when eating because sometimes the pepperoni's will slip off, so I'd recommend eating it on top of the box they provide or a napkin so that you don't loose...
Read morePrince Street Pizza in NYC is a must-visit for any pizza lover, especially if you have a soft spot for square pizza. This iconic spot delivers a slice that's nothing short of perfection. The sauce strikes a delightful balance—neither too light nor too heavy. Despite my usual preference for thinner crusts, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed the thicker crust here. It has a satisfying crunch that complements the flavors beautifully.
We opted for the spicy pepperoni, which was outstanding. However, I can easily imagine savoring a simple cheese slice to fully appreciate the fundamentals of their pizza craft. The basics are what they do best, and they do them exceptionally well.
Inside, a poster proudly declares that their mozzarella and ricotta cheeses are homemade, their tomatoes are imported, they use 100% extra virgin olive oil, and all sauces are cooked on the premises. This dedication to quality ingredients really makes you question what other pizza joints are doing.
As for the experience, be prepared for a bit of a wait. The line was long, and there were no available seats at the four small tables on the sidewalk, so we ended up enjoying our slices standing up in the bike lane outside. It's all part of the charm, but I’d recommend not arriving too hungry if you’re not a fan of waiting.
Overall, Prince Street Pizza offers an unforgettable experience. It’s fun, it’s authentic, and it’s a testament to what great pizza should be....
