On a 90-deg summer, this place offers a convenient location for dumbo visitors… but…
they sat us in the most inconvenient placement, added an extra seat that was so close to the only other two diners instead of accommodating us where we can have more comfort and breathing space - the rude waiter reluctantly just added an extra seat.
the waiter took our orders, we ordered two pizzas and fries because we wanted to have a quick snack before leaving the area, the waiter was visibly showing us a dismayed face and we could not understand why!
my friend asked for ice and he said we could not get ice.
the waiter went back to the back and my friend saw him talking to the other waiter and they exchanged very annoyed faces.
came back to us and said that they could not process our order because it was too little.
at that point, when the orders have been taken and brought back to the kitchen it seems very rude and suspicious that they are giving us an excuse not to serve us
-I was very dismayed and annoyed that he came back to tell me that the order is not enough- I explained that we just stopped in so we can have a quick snack and to try their place.
but the rude waiter was smirking behind me almost smiling knowing that his customer is not happy with how they are handling their business.
I asked if what he was telling me is a part of their policy and that if it is written on their menu (as a “Warning,” to not order too little or “do not come of you are not hungry”) and he said No it isn’t .
I would have appreciated it if he told us right as the orders are being taken so I can make a decision whether to honor this request to add more or to not stay altogether instead of being embarrassed infront of my friends whom I am touring. At that point It felt like I was being forced to order more or be denied service. Utterly shameful move to do that to your customers.
I asked to speak to a manager and unfortunately for this business, this guy said he is the manager. He does not have proper customer service skills unless his job is to make sure that nobody eats or comes back to this business!
-I saw some very disturbing and very similar experiences from other previous diners‘ google reviews and I think they have had it worse than me. So I can consider myself lucky now by not spending my money on a business that does not deserve any patronage or recommendation at all.
the night before that, we spent time working to get a table in a restaurant in the city but despite the place being pricey, despite being a very busy place, we came out really enjoying the food and the impeccable service just because they are simply friendly - but this place “Love and dough” should be renamed “Unloved and sour dough”. I mean it, it was truly a ridiculous experience - No Love and I feel sorry for the dough.
the two workers there today- do not deserve to be in that restaurant! They will bring that restaurant down!
not coming back, please do not come to...
Read moreWe made a reservation at Love and Dough like 2 weeks in advance through open table. The restaurant never called us for any specifics and we reached the restaurant on time with a group of 12 only to realize they would not serve us untill we agreed to a fixed menu. They would not even give us water!!!! We tried to tell them we havie dietary restriction and that we would be willing to hit a minimum spend but they would not budge. They said you have to fix up to a fixed menu. They were rude, horribly unprofessional and like many other restaurants if they had just told us a day before or so we would have made other arrangements but the restaurant was completely empty and yet they were uncompromising, which I did not understand why. Seemed they were discriminating against us. It was the worst experience in my life in front of all of my guests. We walked out and had to finally find another place. They said it is open tables problem which I did not understand why. I have made numerous reservations through open table and love it. I think we should not have this restaurant being featured on the open table Network so in future they would never do this to anyone else. Also to, make matters worse the manager was not it and would not come on the phone and was out right rude and horrible. He was accusing me that they tried to call me before and when I asked them why didnt you leave a voicemail or email me through open table as they had my email...but he had no answer. I had caught his lie. I believe the restaurant was out right discriminatory secondly, if they could have proved they tried to contact me I would have recokned it was my mistake but nothing what soever .
This place should be called Hate & Dough. This left such a distasteful taste in experience that we would never go again in our lives, And would tell as many people as possible about this to avoid them the same. Not a friendly establishment. Outright rude, horrible experience, horrible service. Don't know what customer experience or...
Read moreI was with some friends at a park in DUMBO when things turned windy and chilly and it was getting late. Most of us were famished and we began seeking out something to eat.
We saw big letters in a window that said MANGIA MANGIA, and I pointed it out and we headed that way. The restaurant was getting near to closing and we also had the added challenge of having multiple folks in our group with dietary restrictions.
First off a gentleman greeted us at the door who I assumed was the manager, while having the frame and stature of a bouncer. He was extremely patient and answered all our questions and allowed us to fine there even though it was less than an hour before they closed.
The place was cozy and warm with an element that is a favorite of mine, high ceilings! They also had options for vegetarians (which I am) and vegans, and those with gluten allergies!
Among the vegan options were vegan pies. The pies while not full size were a little larger than ones that could be construed as personal pies and were cooked in brick oven style. They were sliced in 6 slices if I recall correctly which meant it was easy for us to share and trade the different meals we ordered. The food was excellent, especially the vegan pepperoni pie! And if you're with a group of 4 or more it's worth it to split a bottle of wine.
The server we had was also extremely, friendly, helpful and knowledgeable and most important was patient with our rowdy band. Their taste in wine was excellent, and they knew the food they were recommending as the first option I chose wasn't available, and his recommendation did not disappoint!
I definitely think this place is worth a try, especially if you struggle finding vegan pizza! The menu is a little pricier than I usually like to be, but I'd say the while experience was...
