I recently had an incredibly unpleasant experience at Magnolia Bakery at Bloomingdale's. I had ordered a pint of banana cake for pick-up. When I arrived at the store, there were no clear instructions on where customers should wait for their orders. This lack of organization was the first issue.
As I approached the counter to ask for assistance, I encountered a staff member who was extremely rude and unprofessional. I asked her where I should wait for my order and tried to show her my order confirmation on my phone, and instead of providing a simple and courteous response, she brusquely told me to keep my hands behind the counter. Her tone was unnecessarily harsh and dismissive.
The situation escalated when she saw my order. She looked at my pint of banana cake and sarcastically commented, "Oh, just a pint? That’s weird." This remark was not only uncalled for but also made me feel judged and uncomfortable.
Her behavior was not only rude but also discriminatory. As an Asian woman, I felt her attitude was disrespectful and possibly fueled by prejudice. Her attitude was completely unprofessional and made me feel very uncomfortable. Such behavior is entirely unacceptable, especially from someone in a customer service role.
This experience left me feeling humiliated and upset. I strongly believe that the staff member in question should be held accountable for her actions. Customer service should be about making customers feel welcome and respected, not judged and mistreated. I hope the management at Magnolia Bakery takes this feedback seriously and ensures that no other customer has to go through a...
Read morePre-ordered a Mother’s Day cake - round shape with 3 tiers and customised message in icing to pick up at 9am. Store called at 8:15am day of order pick up to say they forgot to make the cake and was it ok if they gave us a larger cake of the same type. Arrived at 8:50am to pick up cake. Was informed no cake ready and needed to wait. Waited until 9:30am and then asked again. No cake ready and they seemed confused. Staff member seemed to forget to follow up on order despite us checking in prior. We were given a slab cake - 1 tier and hastily put together at 9:45am with messy iced message. Cake was not very nice, very dry, burnt at bottom, messy shape and icing melted and not legible. Looks like they baked it in a rush because they forgot and just piled on lots of icing to cover the mistake and did not have any staff available who can write icing messages. Not the cake we ordered - not 3 tier and nicely decorated for Mother’s Day. Just a cheap looking dry slab cake with a pile of messy icing. Terrible that we waited an hour to receive the wrong cake pre-ordered for Mother’s Day. Bought my child a banana pudding to eat while we waited. Terrible. Just whipped cream and maybe one tiny piece of vanilla cake at the bottom. No flavour, just a bucket of cream. Would...
Read moreI went on Feb 22nd around 7:40 pm to pick up some treats. I realized they had items that I haven’t seen before and was looking at tote bags. There were 2 of us and we each picked it up to look and this African american worker looked directly at us and said "if you are not going to buy them, then don’t unfold them." For one, I will decided if I want to buy or not after actually looking at the item like normal people. We were not making a mess or anything. I also get the tourist attracting places can be annoying to the workers but there were so many ways to deliver the message. Also, it's part of your job to keep things tidy and organized and it's ridiculous trying to avoid or minimize any kind of work. Even Louis Vuitton next door will let you touch and inspect the purse without having to make a purchase. The whole encounter was rude and unpleasant. If you hate dealing with customers and service maybe find a different job. I don’t even know why I even spent money there after that nasty interaction. Not to mention, the tote required ONE FOLDING. Magnolia- you have a miserable and bad brand...
