I was SO excited to pop into Magnolia- I have a core memory of my father bringing home these delicious and pretty cupcakes, decorated with frosting flower petals. I suppose this is now a special order, which is all well and good⌠but the cake was dry on all our cupcakes but the red velvet. There were scant flavors to choose from in the first place, and the daily special tasted like it was 3 days old.
This is obviously not the original location, and I should have made the rainy trek to Bleeker. I assume they donât actually bake at this location. Iâd put money on these cakes being frozen and then thawed several days prior.
The cashier tried to give my 6-pack to another customer, who almost walked away with it. I bought an $18 mug, for my memories.
Magnolia needs to consider downsizing to focus on their product, because the $5 cupcakes I had today cannot withstand another recession. A fresh one is truly to die for, but thatâs just not what youâre gonna find here.
Iâm NY born and raised, but the elitist veil was lifted from my eyes today. Magnolia got expansion-happy AND lazy, and it shows. I wouldnât bother to leave a review, had Magnolia not broken my heart a little. Maybe Iâll catch yaâll on Bleeker for another go another time, but Iâll probably just stick to shipping in Lancaster...
Read moreI frequent the Moynihan train station location because of the convenience. This location has been consistently going downhill for the past 6 months. First of all banana pudding should have bananas in it, yet one three occasions in the last 4 months in a large container we have found at the most 2 slices of banana in each. What we are finding is so many wafers that the pudding is actually dry. Very disappointing. In addition I wanted to share an incident that happened in March at this location. I ordered a prepackaged slice of cake along with my pudding. The sever dropped it (I saw this) on the floor, picked it up and passed it down the line to the cashier. When I saw the package dented with the cake smashed inside I asked for another one. The cashier said âwhat kindâ and I replied âthe sameâ. She looked at the piece of cake with the broken box and said âwhy, whatâs wrong with this?â I laughed, I thought it was slow and she was joking, she wasnât. I got a new piece of cake but it put me off...
Read moreWorst costumer service ever. We got there at 8:20 pm and were told they were already closed despite the door being wide open and the schedule closing time was 9pm. I asked to be allowed to show my friend the desserts on the display even if we couldn't buy them (her first time on any Magnolia Bakery and last day in NYC), and we were yelled that it wasn't allowed (to look at their display) and that we should leave the "building". The store is not even a separate building, is inside the train station. The two female employees that were working on the night of 1/2/22 were extremely rude to the point that we followed to the door an kept yelling at us while we walked through the station. The male employee on site was the only one who treated us with some respect and spoke to us kindly. Sad to say that I've never experienced anything like that in any other your stores and on any other store at all. Really the worst costumer service and a huge disservice...
