I’ve been to the old location and recently went to this new one. It is still the same amazing food and amazing May. If you have any dietary restrictions, they will try to meet them. I eat mostly WFPB and sos-free and this time they made me this dish without any oil added, I was so stoked and it tasted so good. Went again recently and ordered straight from the menu without any modifications and nothing was overly oily or salty, just so much yum. The Tom Yum soup was out of this world, I just wish the portion was bigger! The Pad Thai I think was the best I’ve ever had anywhere so far - I loved that it had a ton of fresh veg on top. My only complaint is their odd hours. I wish they were open for lunch not just dinner! Check before going and consider even calling in advance - I made the trip all the way from NJ to eat here and arrived a bit after their opening time (5pm) only to see the sign on the door that said they will open at 7pm lol. One of the staff members saw me turn around and cuss under my breath and kindly let me in early haha. But yeah call and check before going.

Calling all your attention to @maikaydee, a family run hidden Thai haven in NYC!! They bring out the Thai flavors in most of the food on their menu.. What's more, it's all Vegan and Plant based!! so go all crazy with your Thai cravings! The steamed dumplings with no onion no garlic or mushroom a rarity.. so had to order those and boy they were good and filling!! Entre I landed on the Isaan vegan which is a textured vegetable protein.. it was good but had more sabzi texture than curry.. Lastly, missus had pad Thai and opines that she had better pad Thai else where and I make a point to do what the missus says!! Let me know how you guys like this place and drop a comment on where else you find amazing Thai food!! #thejainfoodranger #maykaidee #jainfood #jainfoodie #jainfoodnyc #thaifoodnyc #thaifood #steameddumpling #padthai #isaancurry

We had a wonderful experience at May Kaidee NYC! Seven years ago we spent a month in Thailand and we frequently ate at May Kaidee's Bangkok and Chaing Mai locations while visiting. When I saw that May had opened a location in NYC I was beyond ecstatic! We ate there twice over the three days that we were in NYC and then we got fried rice and pad thai to go home with us on the airplane. I would have eaten there all three days if possible, but we ended up getting held up at the conference at our hotel the second day and couldn't make it over in time for lunch. I highly recommend this restaurant. The tom yum and curries are my favorites but everything is delicious. It brought back wonderful memories of our time in Thailand! Best thai food that you will find in the US!

tl;dr - avoid this place if you want to be treated with any level of dignity or respect, and "Joe" should be fired for being one of the worst humans I have ever met in my life. Even the chef "May" came out and apologized for his horrendous behavior, but he still prevailed, which was honestly quite wild.

Detailed review:

Tonight was honestly one of the worst experiences my wife and I have ever had a restaurant in our entire lives. "Joe" who refused to even tell us his name because he knows how badly he behaved, was honestly just a bad human being.

Arrive at the restaurant at 7 PM - place order at 7:05 PM. I have allergies to onion and garlic so we were told it would "take a little time". My wife had no allergies and we asked for the food to be given as ready.

8 PM - they haven't even served us our order of tea or appetizers. We ask what is happening and "Joe" says he cannot give us an ETA for the food. We say we will leave but he says no, wait for a couple of minutes and the food will come. A table of white people who came in around 730 PM were served promptly before us. "Joe" was probably being racist on reflection, but it didn't strike us as such at that time.

810 PM - the appetizers come out and "Joe" says he has cancelled our main courses because he doesn't want to "put pressure on his kitchen". We insist that they still make our food and he says fine they will do it (very begrudgingly). Joe tells us "there are so many restaurants around - you don't come here"

845 PM - we ask what the status is and "Joe" says he cancelled the order and never reinstated it because he didn't want to serve us. We tell him this was totally unacceptable and the chef comes out and offers to make food for us. However "Joe" waves her off and tells her expressly to tend to the other patrons and asks us to leave. We leave but the chef follows us out and promises to cook for us. I then follow her back inside and "Joe" threatens to call the cops on me (I am dark skinned with long, curly hair) and says I should leave and I am not allowed to talk to the chef.

It was a real pity because the food here is...

This was such a horrible experience. First of all, it took us over 1.5 hours to get our meals. I ordered the Pad See Ew with "duck" and my friend ordered the Fried Rice with "chicken". While we waited they didn't even give us our drink orders or any other food as a courtesy since we were waiting. They said they were short staffed, which I completely understand, but at the very least give us something to eat while we wait.

When the food FINALLY arrived over 1.5 HOURS later, the Thai iced tea tasted okay, since they used coconut milk instead of sweetened condensed milk, but my food was not good at all. I took one bite and pushed the plate away. My friend was nice enough to just share his meal with me - since I was treating us for dinner. Listen to me when I tell you, I LOVE Thai food, and eat it often, so if I say the food was bad, it was bad.

Kindly enough, the manager took off the Pad See Ew and the Thai Iced Teas for the wait. I still gave them a tip when we left just to be kind.

But the drama doesn't stop here. By the time we left, it was nearly 11pm and by the time I got to the station I needed to transfer to the bus to go home, I'd missed the last bus for the night, so I had to take a Lyft home. I didn't end up getting home until after 1am! All of this could've been avoided if we got our food at a decent time.

This morning when I woke up after having a small cup of green tea - my normal routine of over 15 years. (TRIGGER ALERT) I noticed my stomach was KILLING me and I started to feel nauseous. I soon began vomiting for what seemed like hours. It was the food from the night before.

The only thing that changed in my routine was what I ate the night before.... at May Kaidee. You guessed it, on top of all of the other things I went through the night before, I got FOOD POISONING from this restaurant.

So save yourself, your stomach, and your schedule the trouble. Go...

I recently had the pleasure of experiencing the incredible catering services provided by May Kaidee for our film set, and I cannot sing their praises enough! From start to finish, the experience was nothing short of exceptional.

The food was not only delicious but also incredibly filling and healthy, which was exactly what our cast and crew needed to stay energized throughout long shoot days. Every dish was bursting with flavor, showcasing the mastery of Thai cuisine that May Kaidee is known for.

What truly sets them apart is their dedication to using high-quality, fresh ingredients and their commitment to catering to various dietary preferences. Whether you're a vegan, vegetarian, or simply a lover of delicious food, May Kaidee has something for everyone.

I highly recommend Ma Kaidee for catering services. Their attention to detail, exceptional customer service, and of course, their mouthwatering food make them the perfect choice for any occasion. I urge you to visit their restaurant for a great meal.

Thank you, May Kaidee, for making our film set catering experience truly unforgettable. We hope to work with you again...
