McCarren Parkhouse — Restaurant in New York

Imagine being in a slightly under kept park - in one of the better upscale neighborhoods in nyc…. Imagine wondering why on earth was this park not getting the love attention and mowing it deserved. Then imagine it gets worse. People overuse it. People ruin the bathrooms - the much needed bathrooms required to enjoy your frozen margaritas from Turkeys Nest, an institution of the park persay. You ponder with you friends WHY?!? Why would they board up the bathrooms?! WHY NYC WHY?! Only to find that when they peel away the terrible exterior you find…. A bar! An ice cream shop! A coffee shop! An outdoor patio! Dreams, every once in a while do come true. Slightly overpriced, but that does check out for the convenience, location, and epic level-up this park just got. My only worry is there aren’t enough taps, enough patio space, and enough everything for this city. Bravo and brava...

I don’t usually write reviews, but this one needs to be said: McCarren ParkHouse was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. We ordered a cheeseburger and a Bloody Mary — both were absolutely disgusting. The burger was greasy, soggy, tasted like rubber, and had a weird off-putting flavor that made me stop halfway through. The Bloody Mary? A glass of cheap, expired tomato juice with a splash of regret. Absolutely no flavor. I felt nauseated the entire night afterward. Literally sick to my stomach. The vibe? Completely careless. Like they know they’re in a park and assume people will keep showing up no matter how bad the food is. I wouldn’t even give them a single star. Zero stars. Avoid this place.
