MOKAFÉ — Restaurant in New York

I have been here three times. At first, I thought the croissants were way too expensive, but when I got home, I realized the price was justified. They are generously filled with toppings and are always fresh (even if purchased afternoon/evening hour). My second visit --- Special mention to the male employee who was working the afternoon shift on 03/16. He provided amazing service, cheerful, and made the best coffee I've had so far, which definitely left a positive impression.

Improvements Needed: During my first visit, I ordered a cold brew. The female associate made a mistake and added an extra espresso shot, even though the correct order was confirmed at checkout.

On my third/recent visit, there was a change issue. I was given the correct change --- but while waiting for my order at the pickup counter --- I was told that I had been given the wrong change and instructed to return the "extra". I gave it back. However, after leaving and walking a few steps, I quickly realized the change I was given initially was correct. There was no mistake. My fault was not waiting for the receipt when I paid. When I returned to the store, a co-associate helped by printing the receipt to reconcile the transaction, and I got the change back. I would recommend refraining from paying with large bills and always asking for a receipt. Despite this interaction, the staff remained respectful, as was I. I really love this coffee shop. I started coming here once I began working remotely, and it’s become one of my favorite spots. The team is amazing — always friendly and willing to go above and beyond. Danna even warmed up some milk for my coffee one day, which was such a thoughtful touch!

The internet is reliable, and the bathrooms are exceptionally clean — major points for that. While there aren’t a lot of outlets, I haven’t had any issues. I usually charge my devices overnight, and there’s typically one available around midday if I need it.

The music can get a bit repetitive depending on who’s working, but I enjoy the variety when it shifts from Arabic to Latin music — especially when Fred again.. Perfect playlist!

The coffee + croissant combo is a great idea, too. Overall, it’s a 10/10 spot for working, relaxing, or catching up with friends. Great job, Mokafe team❤️ P.S: love...

I’m usually in the area for work. My bus was running way behind scheduled so I figured to kill time by getting myself a quick bite. Soon as you walked in, the staff were warm and welcoming.

They allowed me time to browse without feeling the NY rush. The atmosphere and ambiance are great. It gives me a very LA/European vibe; very quaint, chic and homey. It’s a perfect place to bring a laptop to work or book to escape reality. Keep in mind this observation is on a Tuesday morning before 11AM so I can’t attest to foot traffic after 12pm.

I finally decided on the honeycomb bread with cream cheese. I wished it was softer & chewy but the dough tasted a bit crumbly even after being warmed up.
