Updated 31 July 2025: having been in the area more frequently in recent weeks, I've solidified my impression of a decline in service, which I'd noted some time ago (maybe later last year?). The food, or what I've had of same, is just as good, but service is atrocious. For example, the counter is quite high, yet, when I attempt to pay with a credit card, whoever is accepting payment makes no effort to make the card reader easier for me to reach. Another time (last week), I stopped by around 6:30 (they close at 7, per google) and was informed, not v politely, that no more coffee was available. Last night, as I was waiting to ask a question and place my order, another customer breezed in and placed hers -- and the attendant didn't even ask me whether I was ready to order, even though he saw me come in first. They're getting no more of my custom!
Prior review: The food and coffee are consistently excellent; I always have a caffe latte and, often, the orange loaf. The coffee was strong and flavourful, and the orange loaf fresh and not overly sweet. I also tried the avocado toast, which was tasty. Another upside is the personnel, who are always polite and efficient. Couple of minor grumbles: they could keep longer hours of operation (Google lists them as closing at 8, but they seem to close before then); they could also resume offering some items I haven't...
Read moreExtremely rude short lady and also got our order wrong!
We live in the neighborhood and have come to muffin cafe since living in the upper west side for three years. Weâve always gone inside the cafe with our dogs to order and eat outside. Iâve seen other people do the same as well. There is a certain way to speak to your customers when telling us no dogs are allowed inside and two short women were EXTREMELY RUDE while doing so. This isnât how we should be treated or spoken to especially as loyal customers. Iâve recommended this cafe to all of our friends as well and this is how we are treated?! You guys have gotten our order wrong before, multiple times and my husband and I have not complained once. So this is incredibly disheartening to be treated as such. I went back inside to tell your employees there is a certain way to speak to your customers and instead of apologizing or accepting what they were told, another short Mexican lady behind the counter was beyond rude. This isnât professional whatsoever. Nor is it right for you guys to speak to people this way. If you guys want to change or heighten your policy, then learn to do it a certain way for those of us who have been coming here for a very long time! Until then, sort your...
Read moreWe visited The Muffins Cafe while on a trip to nyc from Alabama! We stumbled upon it while on the way to Central Park one morning and decided to go. We had sandwiches and orange juice which were very yummy! I liked the atmosphere of the cafe as it felt very local. The staff knew peopleâs names as they came in and it gave a real good homey feel to the place. When leaving, we said thank you and went on our way, but after about a block or so a staff member was actually running after us yelling that we had left my purse. It meant so much to me that she noticed I had left my purse and decided to find us to return it. We werenât far, but it meant so much that she went out of her way to get it back. I wish I could have gotten her name. Overall the experience here left a great impression on us and when we come back to nyc we will go out of our way to come back here
