This is my second time here in “Nuan Xin Rice Roll” in Chinatown. I am really disappointed by them. During Grand Open, there is a massive long line (20-40 min waiting), I assume most people came here just to try out the food because they are delicious BUT SORRY! This one is not like the one in Brooklyn. The food wasn't bad, purple rice roll was good. There is like 2 piece of duck inside the rice roll. The drink is way too sweet with the topping. I drink half and was disgusted by it. They were busy as hell when they first open, since they were busy. I felt like they do not respect the customer, the worker start to rush me and keep on asking me "Are you ready". I replied with "give me a second". 15 second later, she ask me again. Please give customer some time to think. I understand you guys are busy but please show some respect. Another thing, I want to let people know is that they have a promo during their grand opening which is buy one get the second one 50% off. They won’t provided to you if you do not ask them for it. How I know this? Because the first time I order from here, I wasn’t aware of the promo. I order something and pay full price for it until my friend told me there is a promo. I was like WTF! So I order the second time.
Chinatown Nuan Xin Rice Roll = #Not Ideal Brooklyn Nuan Xin Rice Roll = Amazing!
I went to Brooklyn all the time just to get their food and it was amazing!!! Perfect food & drink with great services. If you want to get rice roll, consider the one in Brooklyn not the one in Chinatown. I really hope that Nuan Xin Rice Roll owner can see my review and actually do something about it because his worker is ruining their reputation. I am pretty sure the owner is not in this place, probably a manger. Since the owner is not here to kept them check. Workers are doing whatever they want.
Will I order from here again? NO, I will still go to the one in Brooklyn because they have good rice rolls and drinks.
Should you go here? Just try it and see if you like it or not. If yes, just order from here. I am just providing my personal opinion for this place. Really disappoint me.
Addition Information: I also provide a picture of their menu and the stuff I order excluding the drink because I throw it away before I got home. Look at the promo information. Its BS. On my second order, They provide 50% only on the cheapest item you order. However, the rice roll does look good.
Overall: Rice Roll = Good, Drinks = Terrible, Service = Neutral. I am a Local guide in NYC, I provide these information people I want people to understand NY better.
And again, If the owner of Nuan Xin Rice Roll saw this. Please give me a email. If the service and drink got better, I will...
Read moreEDIT: The store looks a lot prettier now with the cute designs. I finally tried their purple rice roll. It wasn't bad, but definitely could be better. I think they kinda cheaped out on the ingredients. I ordered the braised pork with preserved veggies, but I barely tasted any braised pork. I think there was a thin strip at the end, and it tasted old and dry. I tasted mainly preserved veggies, rice, and mayonnaise. If they even out the braised pork and preserved veggies and put less mayo, I would bump up the rating more, but for now it's still at a 3-star. Best part of the rice roll was the rice lol. Very filling and good for breakfast, brunch/lunch. Came here after dim sum so I couldn't try the food. I got the milk green tea instead. It's not bad. I do like the strong jasmine aroma and taste. There was a little too much milk in it, and the sugar level was way off. I asked for 30% and it tasted like 60%. The bubbles were fine.
Interior is not bad, but has a little too much grey going on. It would be nice with more colors to attract more visitors. There wasn't a long line so I didn't wait long for my order.
Communicating with the cashier was a little tough but I understand she must be new and needs to adjust. If the store improves the bubble tea, I will bump up the rating. I usually go to Gong Cha to get my bubble tea, but I live on the other side of Chinatown so it's kinda a way out. Hopefully this place will become better so I can just get my food and...
Read moreI was not a fan of the lettuce and mayo, especially the mayo. I don't usually hate on mayo but it just didn't compliment the rest of the ingredients in my opinion. I had not seen that you could change to a different sauce. Maybe a different sauce would have been better? Also, I wish they had described the ingredients in each roll on the menu so I could better decide and customize. One other gripe I have is that my previous experience with fantuans has been that they always include yutiao inside. No yutiao is a big minus. The rice and the nori on the outside I would consider the best parts of the fantuan. Usually I don't really like purple rice because the texture is too hard. The doneness of the rice is good here. Usually fantuans are wrapped in plastic wrap because the rice is sticky. The use of nori instead of plastic is...
