Located in between That's a Wrap and a gym, you may walk right by Off Grids Common and not realize, unless you are intentionally looking for it.
Very modern interior, with seating in different places. A lot of folks appeared to be enjoying their order while working on their laptops.
Came by early afternoon on a Saturday. Their menu is on the counter right in front of you when you order. Various teas, coffee/espresso options, matcha, and hojicha. I'd never heard of hojicha before seeing it here, so I decided to try their iced strawberry hojicha with almond milk. My partner ordered the iced strawberry matcha latte with almond milk. They also have different kind of pastries.
They make the drinks in front of you, always nice to watch establishments put together drinks from scratch. Visually, the drinks were beautiful. Flavor wise, both drinks were lacking the earthy matcha flavor and the nutty flavor I learned that hojicha is supposed to bring. Unfortunately, our drinks tasted pretty watery, not because of the ice either since we drank them right after walking out with our order. However, the strawberry puree they add was delicious, not overly sweet or with that fake sweet flavor, but natural strawberry sweetness and flavor. Paid just under $19 for both drinks with tax.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreSuch a hidden gem in Bayside! This cafe has quickly become one of my favorite spots to hang out or get work done. Itās incredibly spacious with a calm, laid-back vibeāyouāll see people working on their laptops, sketching in notebooks, and catching up with friends. Theyāve got a very large table if anyone needs some space for projects. Itās not dead silent, which I loveāthereās a nice balance of focus and friendly energy.
The drinks are fantasticāif youāre looking for something beyond your usual bubble tea or coffee, their Asian-inspired menu is full of refreshing and creative options. I tried one of their ube hojicha drinks (so beautiful, by the way), and it was smooth, not overly sweet, and really unique.
Donāt sleep on the baked goods eitherāthe pandan butter mochi and mango sticky Rice Krispies are my favorites. Soft, chewy, and packed with flavor. Definitely worth grabbing...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI love it here. After my very first visit to Off Grids, I knew I would be returning again and again. I am so grateful that this cozy, sunlit spot has opened up in the area. The owners have created an environment that is not only visibly appealing and calming, but they have opened their hearts to the community and it shows. When I sit in one of their comfy chairs sipping a well crafted drink, I feel at ease and comforted. Nestled in the physical and emotional warmth of the cafe, the stressors that followed me in fade away, even if just a little.
Environment aside, Iām a fan of the matcha combinations for drinks: I LOVE the strawberry matcha. For a snack, I usually opt for a mochi square. They donāt always have them so I do try to get one when they get a delivery. It may not look like a regular cafe, but this is a...
