From the time we walked in, my friends and I were seemingly unwelcome and a massive inconvenience to the restaurant staff. First, they wouldn't seat us all together because the "booth wouldn't fit us all" after we tried to say a handful of times that we were more than willing to squish. They began talking about us in Spanish, likely assuming that none of us understood or spoke Spanish, and were flat out calling us annoying and other words that my limited knowledge of the language recognized as derogatory. We ended up sitting at a two top and a four top across from one another, and the second they sat us they said "Last call is in 30 minutes and we hard close in 45 minutes." Not once did the wait staff even so much as smile at us, and when they took our orders they were incredibly rude. At one point, I asked a question about whether they used real maple syrup (something I'm always willing to pay extra for) and she said "It comes on the side." By now, my friends were all discussing tipping low. I was adamant that I wouldn't tip lower than 18% on principle, and even 18% is what I'll do for horrible service; at this point I didn't find the service to be 'horrible.' Then our food came. After waiting for about 20 minutes, at which point we were stressfully trying to scarf down our food in an attempt to respectfully finish before they closed, our food finally came and was VERY disappointing. I paid $14 for Challah French toast, and what I received were four measly halves of bread that was clearly not challah. It was lukewarm at best when it came, and it was not worth $7 let alone double that. At this point, I finally gave in and said we could tip however low my friends wanted to--the experience had, in my opinion, reached the level of 'horrible.' They brought us the check to which gratuity was already included because we were 'a party of six' however we had to sit two and four, therefore there was no reason to keep all six of our orders on one check. The added gratuity was 20%, and I felt incredibly cheated. I will never be coming back here, and I would advise anyone else who values their time, money, the food their paying for, and doesn't enjoy being treated like a nuisance not to come here either. I am not one to post negative reviews of an establishment publicly, as I understand the impact that a negative review can make, but in this case I truly believe it...
Read moreIf I could give it a 2.5 stars I would. The food, eh. The hash and eggs were good, not great, eh, the meat tasted cheap, one of the bites had a weird taste. The breakfast burrito that claimed to have Mexican chorizo, was a lie. I honestly sent it back. It had the worst flavor because it was South American chorizo trying to blend with what is the attempt to make a Mexican style burrito. So for someone who doesn’t know any better they wouldn’t bat an eye. The pico that went with it, was SUPER bland and tasted old. I swapped it for “buttermilk pancakes.” I don’t know what cardboard box these pancakes came out of, but they were sad. They were the most bland DRY pancakes I’ve ever had in my life. They lacked that buttermilk, just general fluffy diner pancake effect. I would have rather they faked it and made me the box pancake mix you just add water to. They were so dry I used to much syrup to moisten them I thought I was going to give myself diabetes just to attempt to eat them. I didn’t sent them back. I ate barely half, my husband tried my dishes and felt the same. Honestly the star of this breakfast was the coffee, but also helps that they serve Lavazza coffee and the individual air conditioned outdoor booths.
Our server wasn’t attentive. I had to get up twice to ask for something. I understand we decided to sit outside. He served us and left. When they brought out the pancakes the female server was super nice, she understood why I sent my food back. I asked her for a coffee refill… but honestly it feels like you had to ask for the most basic things vs it being a diner where coffee refills are so normal they’re already pouring your coffee before you even ask.
Hope your experience is...
Read moreI came in for some French toast after a double shift. I was asked if I wanted a table said no just wanted stuffed French toast to-go! I sat at mini bar to wait I was asked to pay for my meal before I could even get situated, didn’t mind but I was wondering was my food already done I asked and kindly told the waitress I would when it’s done. The hostess started whispering to other wait staff and then a waiter “male” started guarding the door. I said maybe it’s nothing maybe it’s just me! Then the hostess came out with a brown paper bag lifted in the air saying your food is ready you can pay now! I was surprised I was being treated like a dog I know I was looking under the weather but the disrespect was evident everyone else who came in was greeted respectfully. Then I get home to find plain French toast 2 slices of undercooked bread in the bag with onions stuck in bread it was absolutely disgusting 🤢 not worth $13.00 maybe I got what was thrown in the trash but never again will I Patron this establishment ! This is NYC don’t discriminate on appearances you might have to explain your actions to those reading reviews. Not someplace I would recommend unless you know the people who work there and they know you have money 💰they might do better for who they feel deserves better I am an equal opportunity type person if everyone pays the same price everyone she be treated the same!!!! The quality of food I received and service was disrespectful and gross I could have done better at the corner store ! Bon...
