We came here for the lunch special deal and were so happy. It’s $17.95 for an appetizer, main dish, dal of the day, rice, and naan. They charge $1 extra for chaining the type of bread you want but I think that’s reasonable and worth it. Ambiance: They have a nice and comfortable set up with plenty of seating. It’s a cute cozy local spot. Food: I got the sweet and sour cauliflower as the appetizer and my husband got the aloo tiki. The cauliflower came out crispy but did get soggy half way in. The sauce also was a bit more sour than sweet and I think just needed a little more balance. The aloo tiki was spot on and was a flavorful. The combination of chutneys and spices was a perfect blend. As our main course: I got the OM Daal and it was delicious. The lentils were perfectly cooked and not soggy and the daal was well seasoned. I also really liked the balance of spices. The second entree we got was the Saag Aloo. This dish was also really nice and well seasoned. They did a great job blending the two. The dal of the day was a tadka yellow dal, it tasted like a nice home cooked dal. The naan came out fresh and was a big portion size and they gave a small serving of rice. Service: They were really nice and accommodating. Food came out fast and they checked in often to make sure we had everything we needed. Overall, I think this was really good and authentic Indian food and I would recommend it. Insta: @TheShahLALand

OM is a cozy Indian restaurant on the Upper East Side. Though the space isn’t large, it’s clean and inviting. The tables are relatively close together, but not to the point of feeling cramped. The food here is excellent. I’ll leave it to locals to judge its authenticity, but every dish was flavorful and made with wholesome ingredients. The samosas were perfectly fried, with a crisp exterior and a potato-and-bean filling infused with a blend of spices. I couldn’t pinpoint each one, but they harmonized beautifully. The Chicken Korma was a standout, generously packed with nuts, pineapple, and raisins, all soaked in a rich almond cream sauce. I loved drenching my rice in the sauce—it made every bite a joy. The garlic naan was another highlight, with a fluffy yet chewy texture, balanced by a light touch of garlic and butter. The only downside was the speed of service. The first dish took over 10 minutes to arrive—not terribly slow, but it could have been faster. Overall, the friendly staff, delicious food, and warm ambiance make me want to come back and explore more of the menu.

This was our first time here after seeing the storefront for a couple of years. We checked it out on Yelp and the reviews were about the same as Google, 4 stars or higher on average. I have to say that I've eaten a lot of Indian food in New York City and this restaurant really shines. My wife and I got the lentil soup ($5) as an appetizer and it was marvelously light, flavorful, delectable. We shared the mixed Tandoori Grill as the main. Tandoori chicken, salmon, Sikh kebab, chicken Kabob marinated in Rosemary and yogurt, and lamb tandoori. Accompaniments included onion stuffed naan, mint and tamarind chutneys, and basmati rice ($19.95). The service was prompt and professional and I hear you can BYOB a bottle of wine if you so please. Check this place out if you want to experience the real/affordable Indian flavors in the Upper East.

I went here for dinner tonight to enjoy the restaurant, and especially the very peaceful outdoor seating area during an unseasonably warm Saturday evening. We were greeted first by a host, and then by Ricky, a server who has always been so upbeat and energetic making the meals even more enjoyable. He spoke very sincerely about the joys of serving the local York Avenue community who comprise the main demographic of the restaurant's patrons, which includes my boyfriend and myself. The service is always very good, with an attentive water server always prepared to fill glasses during spicy Indian meals. The cheap cocktails are a fun start to the dinner, as are the complementary Papadam lentil crackers which are served with a mixture of coriander and tamarind chutney. I always order either the chicken and goat curries with carefully curated spices with the seeds clearly being lightly fried in oil, followed by the stew making process, which not all Indian restaurants take the time and effort to do anymore. I find that the meat dishes pair perfectly with the lightly buttered garlic naan. I also usually really enjoy the Chana Saag with the chick peas slow cooked in the greens and they truly taking on the flavor of the simmered vegetables. The saag is also chopped, not pulverized as it is often found at other Indian restaurants. Today I ordered something off of my usual, and I was disappointed. The Vegetable Korma included a strange assortment of vegetables which included red and green peppers as well as canned pineapple chunks which added an interesting addition, in only the truest sense of the word. I would highly recommend OM, for the food and the service, but I would also recommend that they stick to the more traditional dishes which are expected at this type of...

My new favorite Indian place! I don't really know how to order Indian food, but I went with the stuff that I've had the most: Goat Curry, Chicken Tikka Masala (awesomeness), and Paneer Saag (spinach + cottage cheese).

I love curry. It makes me eat 3 bowls of rice and keeps my stomach happy. I make it all the time at home and I've never been able to make it with a strong authentic taste like the one I had here. The goat was tender and not game-y, and the curry itself was a perfect consistency and smelled heavenly.

Chicken Tikka Masala is the typical Indian dish to order. It's like the spaghetti and meatballs of Indian food. The tomato base sauce mixes extremely well with bread and rice, and the chicken adds a wonderful texture. The chicken here was clearly chicken breast, but the way it was slow cooked made it very tender, juicy, and flavorful.

Paneer is the best vegetarian alternative. If I couldn't eat meat and didn't kill myself abruptly afterwards, I'd eat paneer all the time. Saag is just a spinach mixture of sorts with a very creamy consistency and strong spinach flavor. I always feel stronger after having saag....

This place doesn't have a liquor license, but you're welcome to bring you're own beer. They will even provide you with a chilled glass. We just went to the deli next door and got some tall boys to tip off the meal. For the amount of food we ordered, we had a very filling and affordable dining experience. I will come back with more...
