TIP BULLIES
They were horrible and rude. Bullies and liars! We paid for the food on uber eats. The delivery person refused to give us our food; lied and said we didn't pay, even though we did. We had to open our Amex app and show that it had been charged. This is all happening in the lobby of our building. The price was not an exact match because we had uber credit that reduced the price shown in the Amex app versus what was on the paper receipt, but the restaurant was made whole so no impact to them. Once he was satisfied it was paid for he called the restaurant and spoke in mandarin which we did not understand. He then put me on speaker phone and the woman at the restaurant spoke in English and said well you need to give him a tip, and meanwhile the delivery person refused to hand over the food until we tipped him the amount he wanted.
We have always tipped previously but this felt like a shakedown for cash and so we refused. In fact, when we did our order by the uber eats app they called us on the phone right after to say we did not put the tip amount in the order. That has never happened before. We did not confirm we would tip on the phone, and just said "we will deal with that later" because we were shocked and concerned our food quality could be impacted. We had ordered from this place before and needless to say will not ever again. We called them after finally getting the order and complained to the lady who showed no remorse. One of the most unprofessional experiences we have had. If that money was so important charge a delivery fee but don't demand and coerce for a tip.
We live in the UES and like to support nearby restaurants, and believe that it's important to order from our area.

Read moreI was refused my food the guy came with my delivery and would not give me my food since I placed a mobile order and I did not leave a tip on the mobile app. He did not know how to say tip in English and he kept pointing to his nose he then called to the manager and the manager told me that they do not allow online orders unless you leave a tip prior to receiving food or service. you don’t go to a restaurant and tip before you got the bill and service he came in he demanded a tip you don’t demand a tip and you do not refuse someone’s prepaid food and as a manager you should not say that you were not allowed to place orders from a restaurant unless you tip. This went on for over 30 minutes and refused to give me my food that I paid for on the mobile app the total was $13 and it was not a big order I don’t understand why I should tip when the first thing he said to me was tip not in English and kept pointing to his nose. A tip is given when you are nice and for a good service and you were able to go into the app and edit it. After receiving food so if I did not have cash to give him a cash tip I can give him a tip on the app afterwards. Terrible management...
Read moreA nightmare experience. We have loved this restaurant so much but tonight we had a horrible experience with their takeout/delivery. We ordered online and did not leave a tip. They immediately called us after we submitted our order asking if we were going to tip them cash. We felt pressured with the phone call and told them to add a tip to the order total via the app, which they did. When the man from the restaurant dropped off our food, he asked us for a cash tip, and we told him they already called us and we put a tip online. He argued with us saying we did not tip and we told him regardless, he has to give us the food we paid for. He refused to hand us our order and called the restaurant asking if we actually tipped or not. They told him on the phone that we did tip, and then we handed us our food after confirming we tipped. Since when is tipping required?!!! This was completely inappropriate and I wish we could take back the tip due to this treatment.
