I can offer no stars other than becoming 'enlightened' at how biased this establishment maintains. I am of color and had the most unsocialable experience in quite some time. I was second to first in line and became ignored as 'fair skinned' customers were greeted, attended to, serviced to satisfaction and well wishes for a good day in closing as they left and I was looked upon as an outcast. Being moved from second to last. I was, after several minutes of this, finally asked if I was purchashing my item to which I gave an affirmative. I was then left with my item on the counter without a bag, straw or other amenity afforded the 'fair skinned' customers. I can say this, with this type of business practice and ethic this 'Open' kithcen may very well result in 'Closed' and I would not lose a wink of sleep.
To think your revenue will solely rely upon 'fair skinned' customers is even more incredulous as a practice in business. A lesson of life...
Read moreAs a regular NYC commuter, this is my go-to lunch spot. It's affordable and there are so many options. There is a hot and cold food buffet, grab-and-go sushi, and a wall of "build your own," options including salads, tacos, bibambap, ramen, and more. They even have a coffee bar. The food is probably 8/10 in my book, but a solid 8/10, consistently for everything I've tried.
This place was designed with efficiency in mind and they service a TON of people during lunch. In order to keep up with the lunch rush they call people through the register lines not even waiting until their current customer has pocketed change and grabbed their meal off the counter.
Due to the large numbers of customers served, finding a seat here during the lunch rush can be difficult. I usually grab and go with my order, although the seating offered is not bad if you can obtain it. Includes a bunch of seats by the window at the coffee bar so you can grab a cuppa joe and...
Read moreHuge 1-stop deli that has multiple food options that should satisfy the most diverse group of people looking to go to one place to eat. I usually hit the by-the-pound buffet. Food is cooked very well. I find it just a touch overseasoned, but compared to the usual eating out options, that's pretty good. Good quality salmon (both plain and teriyaki), grilled vegetables, even kalbi (korean bbq ribs) pieces. Same price for hot and cold so I usually mix. Haven't tried their ramen, sandwiches, or other prepared foods - there are plenty of places that also offer most of the same. Their prices are on the higher side, but it feels like it's a quality operation. They have another one in midtown as well as one closer to Fulton in the FiDi so I guess they must be doing...
