The only good thing I can say about this place is that it is located in an area that has no Dim Sum. That and the atmosphere and decor was nice.
Otherwise, the person who took our order was grumpy and rude, the food was overpriced, and there was hardly any selection for a place that boasts dim sum.
All the dim sum is pretty much priced for the well off middle class white demographic, which is roughly double the price of what you get if you just took the 15 minutes to go to Chinatown.
$20 got me two sticky rice chicken wraps and 4 soup dumplings. What a sad order honestly. I could've gotten the same thing for less than $10 in Chinatown. At least the flavor was accurate, but the sticky rice chicken was a bit saltier than usual.
I should mention the lady who took our order was mad at something and was grumpy the whole time, grilling us and spurting short responses at everything. Even the customers after us said the same thing about her attitude.
I should also state, they are not Cantonese, so that sets the authenticity back for me. Needless to say after all this, likely won't be...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I came here for dinner our first evening in Brooklyn. We were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food, not to mention the incredibly friendly and helpful service. For me, it was the most authentic tasting and well done dim sum I've had since being in China. The dumpling wrappers were thin and tender and and bao buns as light and fluffy as one could hope for - clearly the kitchen knows what they're doing. We ordered the vegetarian spring rolls, mixed vegetable dumplings, sesame tofu, chinese broccoli, mushroom bao and were treated to green tea mochi for dessert. Everything came out as soon as it was ready and tasted great. As others have mentioned, the food was also well priced and the atmosphere very charming and clean. All that said, the service was perhaps the highlight for us yesterday. Thank you so much James, you made...
Read morethese reviews must be by family friends - or people who have never eaten real Shanghai XLB - the dough was thick and chewy - these are frozen and steamed NOT prepared fresh - I can heat up frozen food at home . The bao dough was not steamed properly so had texture of raw dough . The noodle dish was tossed in oyster sauce and too much fish sauce and cold shredded white chicken - nothing close to taste of the real dish ! The bbq ribs came in a slab you have to cut yourself and the meat did not fall off the bone you have to wrestle it off with your teeth . serving “Chinese” food Iike this on NYC takes some nerve . Park Slope has pretty lame food culture so I don’t trust ‘local ‘ reviews especially with Chinese food. We were given 50% of check cause we were v disappointed with the food - she was apologetic and nice but won’t be bothering eating...
