Horrible experience. Small local restaurant that we had been wanting to try and decided to celebrate my birthday there. Called in afternoon and secured a reservation for 4 at 7:00 PM. Got there by 7:05 but there were no tables available. Place is small with few tables large enough to accomodate 4. Receptionist confirmed we had a reservation but said that a couple was still occupying the table they had reserved for the four of us. they asked us to please wait and even provided a chair for my wife (who has crppling arthritis and can't stand for long). Unfortunately the place was so small that there is really not anyplace to comfortabley wait. Two of us had to wait outside while my wife and I were cramed next to the door watching the couple who had "our" table showing no sign of leaving. We put up with this exptremely uncomfortable circumstance as long as we could and basically left, after a few harsh words about lousy table management and poor customer care (why there was a couple at one of the few tables larger enough to accomodate four dinners was never made clear to us- seems they just filled them as the customers came, with no concern for reservations). Nearly ruined what was supposed to be a celebratory night out. Fortunately a crowded mexican restaurant a few doors down went out of their way to fit us in and in the end we found a really good place with great food and excellent service to save the night and return to for future meals. Too bad Picante didn't care as much for someone who actually made a reservation; we are not up for giving them another chance....

I visited Picante at Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, and I have to say, this place is absolutely amazing. From the moment you step inside, the atmosphere is warm, inviting, and full of charm. It has a cozy Italian vibe that instantly makes you feel like you’ve been transported straight to Italy, right here in Brooklyn.

The staff are incredibly kind, attentive, and professional. Every interaction felt genuine, friendly, and welcoming. They make you feel at home with their service, always checking in with the perfect balance of care and professionalism. My server, in particular, was outstanding truly one of the best I’ve ever had.

And the food? Absolutely delicious. Every dish bursts with authentic Italian flavors, rich and fresh, and you can taste the quality in every bite. It’s like having the real taste of Italy right in your mouth, in the heart of Brooklyn.

For dessert, I tried the pistachio tiramisu paired with an espresso, recommended by my Great Server “Liza” and it was nothing short of heavenly. The balance of flavors, the creaminess, and the perfect nutty touch of pistachio made it unforgettable. It’s a dessert that proves the chef has true artistry, especially with pastries. Compliments to the chef for creating such a masterpiece.

This restaurant isn’t just good, it’s phenomenal. The combination of the food, the atmosphere, and the service makes Picante a true hidden gem in Bay Ridge. If I could give it more than 5 stars, I would this is a 10 out of 10 experience. Highly recommended for anyone who wants amazing food, a great vibe, and outstanding...

Piccante is my wife and my favorite restaurant in Brooklyn, hands down. The food there is simply amazing. We visit Brooklyn a few times a year to do a trade show. We happened upon it totally by accident, walking around looking for dinner. While standing in front of Piccante, a guy walked by us, turned around and told us that if we were looking for food that we NEEDED to go in to Piccante. “I live in the neighborhood and eat there at least 3 times a week!” he insisted. How could we argue with that?! Our minds were blown by the food. The first time we were there we ate dinner there twice in 3 days. It was that good! While the food is definitely a major reason for going, we find ourselves going back each time to experience the joy that is Marta and her family. See, this place is a small, family owned restaurant. They are sweet. They have a little daughter who sometimes is there with them. There is a palpable feeling of love in the space and in each amazing dish that comes out. The pasta is made fresh and is amazing, the spinach. OH the spinach! There’s also this butternut squash/mushroom tower thing made with a balsamic reduction. It was heavenly. We have had such a wide variety of dishes and each one is delicious. GO TO PICCANTE! That’s...

Cute restaurant that is very easy to miss. I heard good things about this place and was very excited to try it out! To start with pros: the food is good, they have gnocchi with a creamy red sauce base. I asked if they were able to substitute with a white sauce, but the waiter said it was in there so...I guess that's not an option? Their portions are VERY filling and generous. For the price, you get a decent amount of food. The part of our experience that was less pleasant was the service. We came in time and mentioned our reservations, but started getting called while waiting because they thought we didn't show up 😅 Mistakes happen. After being seated, it took about ~10 minutes for them to get back with water, which isn't a big deal for me usually, honestly, but I was visibly overheating from humidity and really needed it, there was no one was around to get their attention. Another larger group came in after and were seated next to us, we noticed were receiving their food before us too. Overall, the food was good, but the experience left us feeling a bit put off and forgotten about. This may have been an unusual experience, this place does seem quaint and friendly, so still give it a shot if you're willing.

My wife wanted to go to this restaurant after reading the great review this place has been getting online. We went there last week and brought our cousins as well. The restaurant has been open for a year. The location was formerly occupied by Polonica for a long time until their move further down Third Avenue. The decor at Piccante is very simple. I only noticed a couple of Italian posters located by the entrance, otherwise the place is very austere. We got there around 4pm and there was no one else there, we had the place all to ourselves the entire time we were there. Marta was our server, we think she's the owner, and she was terrific. She told us that everything was homemade. She also said that nothing was premade, so they could add or remove any ingredient we wanted. A basket of freshly baked bread was brought to the table. We all raved about the food that we ordered. My wife ordered the soup of the day and she said it was sublime. For my main course I ordered the seafood risotto, which was really delicious. A photo of it will be posted with this review. We could not have been happier with the meal and service at Piccante. Needless to say, we're coming back soon.
